"You shall know the truth... and the truth shall set you free."
Now that you know the truth about the WT Society... it sets you free.
Doesn't mean you hate God. It doesn't even mean you hate your "brothers."
Just means that - you are free.
i am just curious to hear of some you who have left the org completely, how happy are you?
in my situation i feel like i am on a precipice and about to make a leap into the unknown.
since i have told my family elders and wife that i will mo longer go to the meetings or out on service i feel as if a load has been lifted.

opportunities seemed to be advertised everywhere when i was a young man, it was hard to decide on one.

I know it's easy to say "what could have been..."
But I know of two dubs that were great athetes in high school but wasn't allowed to play.
One was probaby 6'5" and muscular and never became baptised but his dad never let him play sports in high school. I remember him being bitter about it.
He might not have become a pro athlete... but for sure he might have been the college scholarship type.
Another became a dub and was the type that can pick up any ball and do well with it.
i used to think that the theocratic ministry school was extremely valuable.. and i think it does have it's value.. but i think public speaking has changed so dramatically the last few years.. last time i went to the kh... the public speakers were speaking at a very "low" level.. i think part of the thing the current crop of religious speakers (like joel osteen, etc... they are so dynamic.. and even speakers like tony robbins.... i think the style of speaking for witness speakers has become old school.. granted - yes... they have an audience that is "obligated" to listen to them.
but they have not evolved at all as public speakers - and probably is getting worse.. most public speakers aren't glued to an outline.... just a thought.... .
Lol... oxygen deprived red book... That was kind of my point White Dove... Anyone that does public speaking in real life - can't really get by on what they teach you at the Theo School. It's really inadequate.
And most of the public speakers today aren't glued to a podium anymore.

I think I noticed it more the last time I went to the KH.
Actually the OLDER talks - the one in the 70's - where we used to have boot leg cassettes... those were the best.
It was really hard to sit through now.

there's a sub place that i know will make a killing where i live...the subway here is always.
full and this place offers much better fare; fresher ingredients and real cuts of meat.. anyway, it looks like the start up costs are around 100,000...has anyone here ever.
do banks lend money for these ventures?
Franchises obviously work. Other wise there wouldn't be so many of them out there.
And a lot of people prefer eating at a franchise because they know what they are going to get.
And NORMALLY your going to get a better price than an independent "sub shop" because the franchise is buying products at a bulk cost.
One of the hurdles - besides the start up free - is that it is STILL your business. And like any business - your need a cash reserve.
And some of the franchise require you to prove it.
For example - they might say - you need $100,000 franchise fee to give us, PLUS you have to prove you have $100,000 in liquid assets, cash on hand, etc.
Basically - you have to show you can float slow times, etc.
In short... most franchise owners are in a pretty good financial position in the first place before they even start.
Confucious
i was beyond mad when i heard this.
it is on page 30 of the wt.. it says "a pioneer named roxana is one who has seen how jehovah provides for his people.
when she asked her employer for permission to take some days off to attend one of our conventions, he angrily retorted that if she went, he would fire her.
How pissed would you be as a business owner if Roxana did this to you.
Ok... if your a JERK - I cand see it.
But most of the time - you know the convention - what a good 5 months ahead of time?
So she's asking for a weekend off 5 months ahead of time?
And you think if Roxana was worth a $hit - that he's NOT going to be like, OMG... she's just asking for 3 days off.
Think about it.
Unless he was a uber jerk - he's going to figure something out.
And if not - there would be a good reason.
Not to mention - if it was really that urgent - think about how her NOT showing up for work would effect a) the business b) the other workers who have to take her place.

Roxana was a pioneer who wanted to go the convention. She asked to go to the convention. but her boss said no.
She took this matter in prayer. And after prayer and long consideration, she decided to apply the God Given Priciple to be a good worker.
So she decided to be loyal to GOD, by means of being a good worker.
She was rewarded.
On seeing her good attitude - the boss decided to give Roxana a raise - to DOUBLE her salary!
And on top of that, the following week there was a convention. Her boss rewarded her by going to THAT convention instead - and it was PAID since her boss was so appreciative!
In them meantime - 5 co-workers were so pleased at Roxana's attitude that they came into the truth.
