I remember one WT on Greed.
A few days before, some young kid died in a freak bungy jumping accident.
Anyway, by Sunday, it was front page news that the parents were sueing the bungy jumping operation.
Bottom line was, some goof in the audience raises their hand - brought up that incident and said, "See. That's greed (that they were sueing).

Hey guys,
Just wanted to take the time to give my 2 cents here.
For 10 years, I've neglegted my family.
For the "sake of the truth," I would have my family revolve around THE WT MEETING schedule when they would visit.
Many times, they would make long trips (over 12 hour drive) to my home just so I could say, "Can't do this, because of bookstudy - or can't do this because of that meeting."
Well, this is my first family visit since I've stopped going to the meeting.
WOW!!! I've really been missing out.
We cooked Blue Crabs. We drank beer.
I play "karate" fight with my 6 year old Nephew.
They played X-Box.
I tell you, it's so different because everyone is themselves - rather than this "fakeness" of putting on a front of being "Holy."
So much lost time!!! -

...they neither marry, nor are given in marriage...
by Tashawaa inone of the hardest doctrines of the witnesses that i couldn't wrap my little brain around, was the teaching that the resurrected would not marry.. i remember one assembly, a whole talk was spent on the resurrection, and emphasis was placed on the fact that they would not marry.
the couple sitting in front of me (obviously a happy couple, 'cause this distressed them) whispered how they just couldn't believe it.. here's the scripture they use to back their doctrine:.
matt 22:22-33 specifically vs 30 "for in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as angels in heaven...".

This really bothered me for a long time. Almost can't get myself to talk about it.

Best South Park episode, cast your vote
by DanTheMan ini have only been watching sp for the past year or so, so i'm sure there's a lot of episodes i haven't seen, and i'm obviously a little late getting on the bandwagon.
but a couple of weekends ago they did a "25 most outrageous episodes" thing, and one of the episodes was where cartman had this j-lo hand puppet where he recorded songs and did some *ahem* other things involving ben affleck.
i don't remember laughing at anything so hard in my life.. oh, and of course the episode with mr. hankey and his drunken, verbally abusive wife.. so what's your fave?

What did you actually enjoy about JW meetings?
by Pinned Blouse in.
as much as i dreaded going to all the meetings there were things that i did enjoy.. 1. no special parking spaces for the elders, etc.. 2. no collections plate going around the room.
3. no one person giving the talk every single week (can you imagine the same speaker 3 to 4 times a week, every day?

Me and my ex wife use to play the "translation game." We'd scribble it in our WT. For example, "We should all find more time for the ministry..." Translation: Get your ASS out in field service.

C5, I never fudged it, but near the end of my pioneer days I did have only a little actual door to door time. Most of it was return visits.

I went to one one time.
At the time, of course, I was a dub.
My mom and dad went (they aren't). But they were saying how robotic everyone was.
Like when it was time to get food. They called them up by tables and it was so robotic.
Not to say that that's a bad thing.
But it was like, they were showing off how "organized" they were. And it was!!!! -
