JAPAN Bethel downsizes with layoffs!

i don't have the exact number laid off.
however, there are a total of 550+ members at the ebina branch, so if the trend reflects the same as in the u.s. and europe branches, then we can assume at least between 10% - 20%.. in order to counterbalance the need for a work force but without having to incur expenses by housing and feeding them, japan bethel is considering opening the door to "commuting bethelites".

Back at the meetings for the past couple of weeks...
by PrimateDave inwell, i made my move from puerto rico and have been staying with jw family for a few weeks now.
needless to say, they are as "into it" as ever before.
they started pioneering the first of september.

Two new leaflets announced at Meeting today - desparate times?
by cantleave ini don't know if anyone else has posted about this, but at tonight's meeting it was announced there are two new leaflets one dealing with how to leave a legacy for the worldwide work and the other on how to make tax effective contributions?.
this maybe for the uk only but i thought it showed that they really are focussing on filling up the depleted coffers..

Go to the poor , the downtrodden and the disadvantaged, show them pretty pictures of paradise and tell them this will all be yours "soon" sure you'll get converts. Unfortunately they're just peddling empty promises and false hope. I liked the comment "if you know just one word in a forign language you can be a teacher". No matter how you slice it the language of the WT is BS.

Being new we invited 30 brothers over for dinner. We got an invite once?!

i moved to a new congregation and wanted to slowly each weekend invite all the brothers over to get to know them.
the drill was we had a barbie with red wine and music.

Years ago we inviter an elder and his family over for a meal and an evening together...not long after we finished eating he said they had to get going...there was a movie on tv that he wanted to watch. He had cable, we didn't. That guy was an a**hole, and probably still is CHUCK LEARNED.
