Stop blaming the parents. By doing so you are becoming part of the problem rather than part of the solution. Those parents have been brainwashed into thinking different than you and I think. Me and my wife agree that in a case like this we would go straight to the police, but I know a whole lot of people, sincere, caring parents, who are convinced that the best course of action is to go to the elders, because the bible says so.. They can't explain where, but they know dead sure the bible says so.

What's next, Food Banks?
by Quarterback injust thinking, and speculating here.
who would have even immagined a tv channel as a change.
what could top that?.

Food band concept is simple. Publishers donate non perishables canned food, WT tower gives it out in exchange for a future donation. Unlikely to make them a fortune but it may earn enough members. The problem with that idea is that is more likely to attract people looking for food than it is to attract new members.
I live in one of the poorest areas of the US. Average household income is about 12k a year. Many religions have come in here and offered people (specially single mothers and undocumented inmigrants) free food, homes and loans. The math is simple. Someone can work really hard to earn credit worthiness and pay a bank 14 to 18% interest on a short term loan or loose their assets or, a religion can come and offer the loan to you for free (in some cases no need to repay) and then God guilt you into giving 10% of your income for the rest of your life. What pays better?
What? did you really think that WTBTS had invented something new with this new donation arrangement?
We had several pioneers in our congo tell us the story of new interested people, who wanted to start a study. After several weeks of earning the trust of the pioneer, they asked if the church offered loans to people. When the pioneer said no, the person asked to discontinue the study. True story.

Watchtower Oct 15 2014. Legal contracts?
by StarTrekAngel infor anyone who may have looked at, or attended the wt study for this week.
the first two articles of the magazine in subject use, in my opinion, the word "legal contract" too often.
anyone noticed this?

Thanks everyone for their input. I was just especulating as to what this may lead to. In many years of attending and studying, I had never heard the term so repeated in magazinez. The bible, yes, but I always thought it was a metaphor.
Anyone knows where to find the mention of legal contract in regards to baptism?

Now I am interested on knowing the literature where it says your baptism is a legal contract. It always sounded to me like one. Anyone knows?

For anyone who may have looked at, or attended the WT study for this week. The first two articles of the magazine in subject use, in my opinion, the word "legal contract" too often. Anyone noticed this? Was it me or is there a push to make the "pacts" look like a series of parallel pacts, rather than seeing them as ammendement or complements of each other?
In either case, It doesn't seat well with me when they begin to hammer on a term. This is how all the other terms were crafted. Great crowd, truth, faithful and discrete slave, etc, etc.
what is next? Are we going to have to sign a baptismal contract or be destroyed by God in the big A?

How did your family react when you made it known that you did not want to be a JW anymore?
by Yondaime inplease share your experiences..

Funny.. with all due respect to your family, if my sister said something like that and asked me to refrain from talking down her illusion, I would ask her why she does not extend the same benefit to people on the field.

I very clearly remember the days when we were always told that the we needed to keep in mind that if any authority ever came to us questioning who the minister was (as in we are need to talk to him) that then we needed to say that we are all ministers and never give up information about our elders to the police. This days they don't repeat that anymore but there is certainly a push to separate themselves from any liability but keep themselves tied to all income.. I meant to say, donations.
