yesterday i was with a group of brothers that wanted my advice on re-roofing a home.

three of them were ministerial servants.

all of them are from the spanish congregation.

@LV101. Some get it better than others. My wife's family were migrant workers on summers only but the kids worked just as much as the adults. Like I said, she started working at age 12. The main difference relies on wether the adults at the time are documented workers or not. That makes a huge difference. Not to toot my own horn because even though I am hispanic, I never had to endure this conditions but for the most part hispanics in the US are extremely resilient and resourceful. Then can surely start a trend that the next generation will continue until they get out of poverty. Is not without struggles but they sure try. After all, when was the last time that you saw this??

Makes sense now. Telling the R&F about something they already know would not hurt anything. Especially if he is persuasive enough

We just had the CO visit two weeks ago and he mentioned nothing. However, he did start his talk at the assembly last Sunday talking about child abuse. I walked out in rage so I don't know if he may have mentioned it then.

Even if we are not ready to leave, it would be a good way to judge how many would do it.

Now sincerely asking, what would an anonymous letter do? I mean, it would be nice if they could use that to see how many disgruntled JWs are out there but they could also toss it out and think it was a scam?

the changes the governing body are making are of such magnitude that it resembles the stock market with violent swings in both directions.. when the dow moves 50 points in either direction, nobody comments, but when there is a 500 point swing people sit up and take notice and this is shown by the number of visitors to the jw survey site..

That is because in its very nature, the WT has to act almost like an insurance company. Balancing risk vs donations and investments. They have to keep moving the cheese in order to attract enough attention from its members and cause volatility.

I am hispanic as well. I am 6ft tall, white with brown eyes. I am not as muscular but I sure am working on it. Go live in a hispanic community ( I said live, not visit like a tourist) and go see how much they celebrate their "first generation in college".

It is a well know fact among hispanic communities that they do not have the level of education opportunities as other kids have. My wife was a migrant worker since age 12 and so are most of my co-workers. I am in the IT field but most of my co-workers worked in farms picking fruit to contribute to their families. Go watch the movie McFarland USA and then ask any hispanic if the movie has any resemblance with reality.

Yeah, I know the no education thing is widespread. I was just wondering if there was such an emphasis on the book of Acts because sometimes the translation makes a big difference. In Spanish, Acts 4:13 does not simply make the apostles sound uneducated, it makes them look like morons as well.

How will many JW's react ?

i did not believe i would see the demise of the wt in my lifetime, and maybe i will not, they may be able to ride out their present problems.. but how do you think this will affect the average, loyal, believing jw ?.

usually most things just wash over them, if there is a slight niggle, they use their well-worn way of explaining things to themselves as in "the end is near" or "jehovah knows best" etc etc.

but the huge sea-change in corporate policy that we see unfolding, all construction work stopped, except warwick and maybe their biggest project, chelmsford u.k. huge bethel layoffs, and the lifestyle of the remaining staff reduced to virtual slavery, more bethel closures, spiritual food reduced for the public as well as the r&f, and all of this being the opposite of what they have claimed was evidence of jehovah's blessing ???.

Oh not very long. The truth will always be out there. But there is a difference between a handful of witnesses knowing that the construction is at a halt (and may be even talking themselves into thinking that this is only happening in their area) and another vast different to hear it from official sources. I just came back from an assembly where it was presented to us that even getting a new iphone would be unwise in such times of necessity, when construction is at an all time high. How would that affect them? If the GB made a broadcast to remind everyone that just because the loans were forgiven, it did not mean that donations were not needed, then announcing construction is on hold, will not have the desired effect.
