Do You Think 10% Tithing is Coming?
by xjwsrock infirstly, there are cash flow problems in wt town.
i don't think it's necessary to list all the cutbacks and layoffs, but there have been many.. their thirst for money seems higher too in my opinion.
more entitled may be a better way of putting it.

They already collect more than 10%. Why would they ask for 10% and loose money? -

$8,300 on our last one day assembly. Sums in excess of $10,000 is not unheard of for our 3 day assemblies. -

I started noticing a change at the KH. For the past couple of weeks, the place feels quiet warm. Personally I have to take my coat off as soon as I walk in. Wife has mentioned it as well. Most sisters and brothers can be seen using WT mags as fans.
It used to be that the AC will be running overtime for most meetings. Even getting to be a bit chili. Now the AC does not seem to be on until the speaker steps on the platform. By the time the place is finally coming to a pleasant temperature, the meeting is almost over.
Seems to me the this change coincided with either the last CO visit or the last broadcast, where they speak of money shortages. May be now that the cong is supposed to send all the surplus money out, they are demanding cuts in the KH expenses.
Anyone with a similar experience?

LOL. OnTheWayOut. No sarcasm, I really think it was funny.
I will definitely listen. By their own definition and the position they hold within the church, he won't be merely expressing opinion. By the language he will most likely use, he will be telling us what to do and what to believe. That is where the respect ends, by my own words in the other thread. If I do not understand what he means, I will definitely give him a chance to explain again.
I don't think that would be a lot different than what John Cedars has proposed. And open respectful debate between the GB and apostates.

LOL. Cappytan. If I could attend by myself I would definitely do it. Wife and mother in law would be shocked. I have not used a suitcase in about two years. -

On respect for the belief of others. Sorry for the long post
by StarTrekAngel ini am inclined to start this thread in response to some comments made in other threads.
i have been coming around these forum for quite some time now so whatever you find in here is not just related to something someone may have said this week.
it can go months back as well.. i have seen many who claim to respect the belief of others but when it comes down to applying it into practice, things take a whole different tune.

azor,
While I am pro-science, I am pretty sure the medical community of the time had plenty of evidence to back their claim that homosexuality was a decease. So the belief of the time was founded on the understanding of the time.

Lets start a "Go Fund Me" for those special pioneers being kicked to the curb by the GB,.
by notjustyet inlots of great potential to help those sp that are being sent off without any financial help from the wtbts.
i think that it would be a great way to get some exposure on this topic and how the wtbts thats those that dedicated their lives to the wtbts only to be sent packing at a late age.
then someone can take the funds to one sp couple, possibly, and give it to them in honor of the apostates that know what is really happening.

It could be a good idea if it wasn't by the almost inevitable fact that some pioneers will pull the theocratic warfare card. They will come smiling and thanking you for the money. They will turn around, give it to the WT and show that Jehovah can make apostate plans backfire and use the spoils of apostate devilish attempts and turn them into good works thru his organization. -

Ours is a Spanish assembly as well. Is quite small for such a celebrity to attend but this is a circuit were growth may be more evident than others. However, it makes me wonder. Partly because most people outside of this border area (even as close as Austin), think we live in a war zone. I've heard it more than once. -

We, as a society, once believed that being gay was a decease that needed a cure. Just like you mention religion needs to be eradicated. Homosexuality was considered so up until the early 70s. Great minds like that of Alan Turing were dismissed because of such belief. The world events played out the way they did just because it wasn't known earlier. If someone did know, he or she sure found it convenient to keep it under wraps.
Had he been ratted out as gay earlier in time, what would have happened to the efforts on decoding the enigma machine?

A letter was read to the congregation last Sunday. I wasn't paying much attention until I heard Stephen Lett will be delivering a talk. At first I thought it would be as a recorded video, as it was in the last assembly. However, after the letter was posted to the board, I went back and re- read it twice to make sure I understood correctly. Letter says we will have a visitor, a branch representative (branch is literally the word in the letter). Later in the paragraph, we are encouraged to invite our loved ones or any other bible studies we may have to hear the talk by "the representative from the branch, Stephen Lett, member of the goberning body"
Seems pretty clear to me he will be there in person. I have always been curious as to how these people are treated and how they travel around to assemblies. Specially to smaller ones like this one. This assembly will be held at the AH of La Feria, TX. The auditorium does not hold more than 7000 people. I remember attending the last International Convention in Houston (2014), at the Reliant Stadium. Geoffrey Jackson attended. The entrances to the stadium, specially the stairs up to the suites, where heavily guarded. You could tell there was plenty of people up in the private suites. This AH does not have much in special accommodations other than a small apartment where the CO lives.
The talk is supposed to be at 2:30 PM. For those who have insight into how this is handled in the backstage. At what time could he be arriving or leaving? Would he be there for the whole thing or just the day of his talk? Ideally, I would like to be prepared to take a video if I see something interesting. Again, just in case. This is like astronomy, you never know what you are going to discover. I may not discover anything but if I am not prepared, I won't for sure.
