Won't get fooled again ...Moon Landing.
by The Rebel inso i was fooled by the witnesses.
what can i learn from that?
not to accept things at face value but to seek out opinion and different view points.. hence my question " do you believe man landed on the moon?.

while this may seem to contradict what I posted earlier, please note that my previous post was not to challenge the thread, it was mostly pointing at space travel technology. I still believe that the technology required to land a man on the moon was available in 1969. With that said, it would not be unthinkable to believe that a hoax could have been put together, even with so many people involved. Even the NASA of today operates in a need to know basis. Work is isolated very much like in a cult world. I would assume that given the political environment of the time, such secrecy and compartmentalization was ever more present. No one needed to know what the other person was working on. If I have to consider a hoax, I would think that is much more acceptable to think that winning a race against the USSR did not require putting a man on the moon for real, even if it was possible. At what cost? At what risk? And what was to be earned? Scientific knowledge? I think the risk:reward ratio of such feat in 1969 was not worth it just for the sake of knowledge. We've always had other means of getting that information and science has always counted with time to develop new understanding (Science does wait patiently on Jehovah, see that GB?). I believe this to be the primary reason as to why the moon landings ended. The race was won and the new knowledge gain from being there not worth the expense. Think about the Mars rovers. How many of those could we have sent to the moon already? Are they a hoax too? -

The Australian Royal Commission will NOT do a damn thing to the WT!
by Calebs Airplane inthe rothschild family will not allow the aussies to take any significant action against their religious wing (mormons, jws, adventists, etc.).
the worst outcome for the borg will be a relatively small fine and a deadline to change their rules.
that is all..

Agreed 100% with millie210. We all wish that this would bring down the WT but you know that no revolution ever started and ended (successfully) in one day. This is one of many battles to come and one of many more that have been in the past. The big difference on this one is the size and sheer coverage that it will get. Let's not forget that google will cache everything for posterity. No more of these forgotten issues of the past. This will not be forgotten so easily.
If it helps some of us erode the WT credibility and prevent anyone from going into the cult, then we already won. Same goes for those of us trying to get family out. It just builds up on them.

I am not an expert in the matter. Some indicate that there is no way to truly shield a human from the radiation of space. Yet again, we are able to keep astronauts in space for months at a time. The technology to steer a spacecraft isn't that fancy. The first space shuttle was driven around by a handful of 386 processors. Think of a dial-up Internet era computer. Now the Apollo nav system was probably much more primitive than that. My point here is that it needs to be not more than a calculator. The computer of that time did not need to handle hd lcds.
The physics of traveling in space are all the same but much easier to predict, as the strong pull of gravity and air drag isn't there. In fact, physics (synergy specifically), does most of the work in the vacuum of space.

If Mr. Jackson doesn't show up of his own will (no summon required), the lie will be further substantiated in my book. -

Rodney Spinks' Performance
by maksutov init seems like there has not been as much discussion here about the rc testimony on day 6 (4th august) as there has been about previous days.
i was quite surprised by rodney spinks' testimony, which was a marked contrast to the bungling and inarticulate testimony of the elders that appeared before him.
spinks seemed reasonably co-operative, and a lot more willing to concede points than anyone else has been.

I do not think that giving all the R&F a copy of the policy would be any form of punishment. I think that if I was a GB member and they offered me such a punishment, I would take it, comply and declare victory over the world. Further indoctrinating those who are still in.
Nothing short of a mandate to report all cases to the authorities or encourage the victim to do so, unconditionally and without repercussion would be acceptable to me. Please keep in mind that I am not a victim myself and neither do I know anyone who has been. The subject is too sensitive and the legalism of the watchtower too good for any indoctrinated R&F member to see anything wrong with the policy or make anything of it.
If Jesus was not willing to be a judge between two brothers over financial matters (where simple Math would have offered a fair outcome) what makes these nutjobs think that they can judge over a sexual abuse case?

They know the RC is going to be an issue: August Broadcast talk with Tony
by leavingonthenextplane inthey are told that persecution is coming and that all will see it.. they are told that there will be lies in the media about us.. they even give the old brother king interview about brothers being jailed.
the last sentence tony the tiger damn near screams at the camera to stay faithful you integrity keepers... he knows your fathers and husbands may be going to jail.
this talk is all about damage control.. .

I think Tony was using double language when he spoke of child medical care. If I was to openly interpret his direction, and in context with the history of the matter, I would understand and translate the following for you...
"You bloody idiots!!! Stop causing us grief by so blindly following this old teaching that we can not change!!! Don't you see that we can not help you there without risking our precious money in litigation???. Go take care of your children, Exercise your right to medical privacy and don't tell anyone of what you did!!!"
The other ironic thing I noticed, almost like a sign from God ( a bad sign for them) is that Australia was passing right in along in the background map as they changed the camera aim to Tony for the closing remarks.

Has the WT ever said it's okay to steak rare?
by neverendingjourney ini'm revisiting an old topic here, but this was a subject of much confusion for me when i was still a witness.
i went to a spanish congregation in the u.s. and it seemed to be taken for granted by most that you needed to cook beef thoroughly to "get rid" of the blood.
i was surprised when i learned that folks in the english speaking hall would order a steak medium-rare and think nothing of it.. it wasn't until after i left the witnesses that it started to occur to me that if the red fluid that was present when you'd cut the beef was blood, cooking it thoroughly wouldn't get rid of it, it'd just cook it and transform it into another color.

Blondie, I am assuming here that you are asking me. Just in case, the answer is yes. I recalled a handful of talks and watchtower commentary from the WT study conductor. Like I said, is not a subject that comes up often. I've been a witness in a South Texas spanish congregation for over 10 years and I think I've only heard this twice or three times. However, the effects still remain. No one in my family will eat undercooked meat. I know where it comes from and while they don't openly say it, I know that is what it is. I often do my BBQs medium to medium rare. I can almost gamble with this and make money. If the inside of the steak is redish but no red juice comes out of it when you squeeze it, then they are fine with it. But if red juice is left behind on the plate or serving tray, then they ask me to put it back in the grill. -

Why is the GB so concerned with the well-being of the accused in matters of sexual abuse?
by paradisebeauty ini'm reading some documents from the royal commission and i don't get it, why so much concern for the accused and his reputation???
i'm starting to think maybe some gb members have things like this in their past, because a normal human being would not take the side of a sexual predator over a child....united states branche x e c u t i v e o f f i c e sto watch tower societyaustraliagsc/as january 21, 1999 no.
176sit is understood that if the law requires elders to report cases of child abuse, they should complywith the law and do so.

While I definitely agree with Vidiot, I think the point the RC was trying to make is the inequality being shown towards the victim. The point was that there is written direction on how to treat the accused with respect but there is no written direction on how to treat the victim. Had there been some more direction on how to treat the victim, then I believe the RC would have passed on this. The elder that was questioned about this attempted to explain that, regardless of a lack of written direction, he tried to explain that he felt that it could be assumed the victim would be given the same respect. Although we know that in practice it did not happen, the justice system does not rely on feeling and assumptions as much as it relies on evidence. Thats were Vidiot's comment fits in. The GB is probably too concerned with themselves to write about how to protect others.
