Howdy everyone! I've been away for a while. Before I am accused of anything, I only came in here to fulfill a promise I made a couple of years ago. Other than that I would not. This place keeps getting crazier.
I have a copy of a book that was given to me by a member of this group for free. The only string attached was that I was to pass it forward once I was done with it. The book is "Signs of the Last Days. When?" by Carl Olof Jonsson.
I also have a copy of "The New Creation" 1925 edition. I need to open a box where I stored it when I moved away from my old house. As I am moving on with my life, I would rather not have reminders of this. Off to better and bigger things. Wife is fully out and has been for some time and we are back to being the happy couple we once were, just older and a tad wealthier. Amazing things happen when your mind is free.
First come, first serve.
to me personally, steven hassen books have had a tremendous influence on my waking-up over the last years.. i have read 3 of his books.. combating cult mind control(2012 edition).
freedom of mind.
releasing the bonds.
"The Cult of Trump" was a good read too.
Agreed.
I have seen that kind of phase on people. My own wife was abused at an early age (not by a JW) and when I brought up the child abuse problems within the org she started going down a very similar path. I told her that it could possibly mean that it feels unfair to her that anyone can have an entire community behind them when they were abused but she was shown no pity, no help was offered. Her own parents looked the other way because the offender was family. In fact, by her own admission, abuse by family members was quite common in her early life. It was a different time and a different mindset. I told her that having survived that on her own thru years of pain and trauma had made her callous to the suffering of others, which is probably as bad a chronically being a victim. We all like to look at the next person going thru the same as we did and claim we were stronger and complained less. She even had that same reaction about me. When I fell ill because of the chronic stress, she looked down on me as weak and sounded exactly like Simon. If she just knew what she did to me at the time, she would have not done it. Things have changed off course, and I forgave her pretty much on the spot.
That is all I am going to say about that. Regardless of whether you feel like one or not, you and I, we all were victims and in some ways we continue to be. For as long as our family relationships are affected by this organization we will be victims of some kind. Chances are other toxic people in our life are causing the same harm and yet we don't call them cults or come close to victimizing us. The questions I would ask is, how pervasive is that influence? Is it getting broadcasted on TV constantly and disguised as spiritual help?
If you have managed, because it is not something you easily do by choice, to move from under their foot, kudos to you. If you still have not managed to do so... please stick around and use all the help you can get from here. I know it helped me beyond words. It is sad to see that some people are now looking down on those who are struggling with the same things we did.
I agree some of these legal venues propose hold no grown. Be part of the solution and educate people but do not denigrate them. Many of the things that are said here are quite prompted by anger and frustration and are not always rational.

Where can I find that quote, I think it was said by Tony, it went along the lines of "we don't care if our message is not popular. Jesus never had to make his message attractive"
i'm trying to remember if these parties were a direct instruction from hq or if this was something on a local level.. i remember i attended at least 2 of these parties and we also would bring them gifts.
i saw them no different than a bday party (elevating someone to idolatry level).. if anyone else remembers these parties please let me know.
if there's a letter out there somewhere from hq that would be even better.
We did. It it a yearly thing in our case. All publishers were invited, otherwise there would be no money to do it. Gifts were encouraged
i have just heard from a visitor to the jehovah's witnesses convention for 2019, that they have been told; 'not to form an emotional attachment to their pets, as animals don't have feelings anyway'.. well, that should break a few children hearts!π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦ π₯΄ π π.
my orignal topics are at.
further info:.
Sorry kids... no more ice cream and now no more pets. Mom and dad are increasingly spending money on their health and organic food. If you can't have a cheap ice cream, much less an expensive pet. The org needs money more than ever. Mr Morris can't handle the stress and needs a drink.
i was doing research on another topic and this question came to mind.
notice how the wts dances around the question below and then my comments about that and whether historically did the wts see isaiah as applying to all jws or only anointed members, spiritual israel (galatians 6:16)?.
are christians to be witnesses of jesus or jehovah?.
This is a very interesting collection of paragraphs and a subject that it is counted among the many other (But one of the strongest) that drove out of this cult.
This could also build a very strong case against the whole 1914 teaching. Once you fully grasp the idea that witnessing means exactly that (telling about something you saw), then there is no room for overlapping generations. Understanding the concept of witnessing means the "the generation that will never die" had to had witnessed the presence of christ, even if it was not visible. The generation after them can not be counted as witnesses. They simply were not there to see it happen. Therefore, if the first generation that did witness the event, died off, then your prophecy is bullshit, dear WT.
Therefore, it was ok for Israelites to be called Witnesses of Jehovah. They saw what God did in the dessert and Egypt. Once too much time passed, the newer generations had not seen any of it. When Jesus came to earth, then that generation can be witnesses of Jesus and saw him perform miracles, etc
youths in school have meltdowns anytime someone βoffendsβ them.
grownups at a dinner table flip out on each other over politics.
drivers are ready to smash each other up if someone disrespects them on the road.
The problem is that we now frown upon "political correctness" as if it was a bad word. Really, it used to be called "RESPECT" but we switch it to political correctness because it becomes easier to switch the context and then demolish it. In return, you have people bluntly disrespecting in each other in the name of "freedom of speech" because we seem to be tired of "walking on egg shells" around each other. Did we expect the result be anything positive?
What drives me crazy is that fact that in this forum, we should all be really familiar with that bait and switch attitude. Those complaining that most about the sensitivity of other people tend to be the ones pushing the most buttons.
i was howling watching cedars latest video of tm111 buying a dozen bottles of scotch ((maccallans scotch).
you can't write this stuff.
right, i'm now off to buy a bottle of maccallans π..
It is ALWAYS a mistake to compare the actions of this man against an absolute. We all know that what he did can hardly constitute a "sin" in absolute terms. If he was someone else we would be jealous and wondering who can afford to buy all that. Regardless if it is for personal use or for a party.
When you have the leader of a large "religion", who has the power to make tons of people miserable for having done the same thing he is doing, then it becomes a sin by extension.
He may be the leader of a corporation on paper, but for millions of JWs he is a God's channel on earth and people beat themselves on the chest when they fail to meet his expectations, sorry, God's expectations. I see no need to cut him no slack.
He was suspiciously dressed, alone and more than half hour away from Warwick when most other purchasing would be carried out by his minions. I am speculating in the following point but I have a feeling that even the car he took was chosen with the intention of maintaining a low profile. I am almost positive this guy hardly drives anywhere without a driver.
Had he seen someone else act this conspicuously he would have had a talk saying...
... if it walks like a duck and poops like a duck... guess what?
