Nah, too much self glorifcation, I expect. Anything that would detract, (even for a day), from the popularity GB would not be welcome.

Would the Jehovah's Witnesses be willing to celebrate their spiritual birthday every year?
by I_love_Jeff inone of their spiritual sisters said that since jesus attended weddings, that makes it okay to celebrate annual wedding anniversaries.
using this logic, since jesus approved of and attended his own baptism, that should, therefore, make it okay for jehovah's witnesses to celebrate their spiritual birthdays on that same day every year.
how exciting to have this new adjustment to our understanding of birthdays!

exJW Psychology 105--"Are You Ready for The Big A?"
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite ini don't know how many others have gotten this question that i got recently.
i wonder if it was the co that thought this would be a great question to try to reactivate someone like me:.
at the time, i was kinda blindsided by the question and gave just an okay response.

Good work, Billy!
Yes, I also was a willing victom to the "Responsible Chilbearing in the Time of the End" talk at the District Convention and article, too. What a dope, I was! I swallowed it hook-line-and-sinker! And to think, I wore my childlessness as a badge of honor of my devotion to God! STUPID....
(Sarcasm): How could they possibly have removed such a timely article? And to think the young people of today cannot read such sage advise:
*** w88 3/1 p. 27 Responsible Childbearing in This Time of the End ***
Children During the "Great Tribulation"
20 Ahead of us is the "great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world’s beginning until now, no, nor will occur again." (Matthew 24:21) It will be a difficult time for adults and children alike. In his prophecy on the conclusion of the present system of things, Jesus foretold that Christian truth would divide families. He stated: "Furthermore, brother will deliver brother over to death, and a father a child, and children will rise up against parents and have them put to death." (Mark 13:12) Obviously, rearing children in the time of the end would not always be a pure joy. It could bring heartbreak, disappointment, and even danger, as Jesus’ words quoted above show.

MSN report on false end of the world predictions includes JW's
by joyfulfader ini thought this quote on msn regarding all the interest in end of the world stuff because of today's date 12/12/12 and the 21st as the end of the mayan calendar.. "figuring out when it all comes crashing down isn't easy, though.
the jehovah's witnesses, for example, have predicted the end of the world at least four times, only to be forced to backtrack.
".

How many other of these predictions were mentioned in the Watchtower and Awake, proving how wrong the other religions were?

Topics not often discussed now
by jdubsnub inwhen i was a kid in the early 90's there always seemed to be a mention of how demons posessing people or how if you saw a demon or something supernatural occuring mearly calling jehovah's name would rid you of the situation.
rarely now a days do you hear anything of the sort.
that got me to thinking, what are some other topics the society has backed off of?

Smurfs come off the wallpaper and will fly around the room and taunt your children
Blood in McDonalds French fries
Used items being posessed and demons entering your home
Androgynous dress and hair styles
Turning off your pager during the meeting
Colored panti-hose for women
Free parking
White shirts only for men on the platform
Make sure you renew your Watchtower and Awake! subscription
Wide ties are too trendy for the platform
Let's make our back-calls
Hour talk
To be considerate of those who open their homes for the book-study
The dance called 'the twist' will lead you into immoral behavor
To remember that the High School Gym is now a place of sacred worship
Culottes are not fitting for meetings or service
Do not get in line during the song for your hoggies and McMuffin Eggs
Disco is evil
And my personal favorite: The internet is **BAD**

It is very tragic on all levels. Especially for the children. So very sad.
It was written that he partook last year. I wonder if the idea that he was demoted and not part of the Faithful and Discrete Slave Class came into play. I suppose we will never know.

Post Traumatic Apostate Syndrome or (The Little Box of Madness)
by Terry inwhat tools does a duped person have?
intellectual damage is done once you are indoctrinated.. your emotional ties to your "spiritual family" form a bias to free thinking.. .
why should you make your life better by first making it worse?.

Terry, Well said. The steps for recovering from Spiritual Abuse are similar to those from other types of abuses. People that are in abusive relationships are always counseled not to jump into another relationship until they take the time to come to grips with their own issues that lead them into that first bad relationship. A feeling of desperation and loneliness may drive a person into another abusive relationship before they give themselves time to heal. They cycle will repeat itself until it is addressed and dealt with.

Discernment and the Bearing Witness in Abuse Cases
by 4thgen inin accepting the name of being one of jehovahs witnesses, they agree to witness or bear testimony to the existence of jehovah and the truthfulness of the bible.
even though no one in this modern age has literally seen the act of creation or the god in the heavens, it is through the mental powers of discernment that faith is built.
after the so-called 'evidence' is presented, it leads to a conviction of faith, which eventually turns into dedication and baptism.

In accepting the name of being one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, they agree to ‘witness’ or bear testimony to the existence of Jehovah and the truthfulness of the Bible. Even though no one in this modern age has literally seen the act of creation or the God in the heavens, it is through the mental powers of “discernment” that faith is built. After the so-called 'evidence' is presented, it leads to a conviction of faith, which eventually turns into dedication and baptism. The scripture, “We walk by faith and not by sight” comes to mind.
Yet, these people of extraordinary faith turn a blind eye at the physical evidence of abuse. They will accept without question that a man over 2000 years ago turned water into wine*, yet, dismiss a person crying for help, while presenting evidence of physical battering and hospital/police reports. Yes, suddenly their ‘eyes of faith’ cloud over.
The Insight Book Volume II Page 234, under Material and circumstantial evidence states:
“…If a married woman was accused by her husband of falsely claiming to be a virgin at the time of marriage, the girl’s father could bring the mantle from the marriage bed as evidence of her virginity to present before the judges in order to clear her of the charge. (De 22:13-21) Even under patriarchal law, material evidence was acceptable in some cases. (Ge 38:24-26) Circumstances were given consideration as evidence…”
So, in the wacky world of the Governing Body, it appears that circumstantial evidence is acceptable to render judgment in a dispute over virginity, but modern forensic evidence or hospital reports are not enough to prove sexual or physical abuse.
In reviewing the past issues of the Watchtower magazine, there are over 1100 references to the wisdom of using “discernment”. May I suggest that a footnote should be added to these references that state: “Warning: Cognitive dissonance in judicial abuse cases of Jehovah’s Witnesses”?
*The comparison given is not to dispute the miracles of Jesus, but to point out the fallacy of such incongruent reasoning.

Do you think that the WT has gotten stranger as time goes by or is it that with distance comes perspective?
by 4thgen inthe preaching the jw.org thing is so strange.

Thank you for all the posts. There were some histories mentioned I wasnt aware of. Yes the org has always been strange....Just seems stranger the further you get away. Its likened to an abusive relationship..you may not recognise it when your in it but others can see the signs. Sometimes its with distance and time you can look back and see the whole picture. Then exclaim 'OMG WHAT WAS I THINKING???????'
