The List, by "Prominent Bethelite"
by morloc ini occasionally pop through here to catch up on the latest, but this time i'm going to pop my own post on here.. some of you internet oldsters may even remember this.
my first experience on the internet regarding discussions about jehovah's witnesses and the watchtower took place on a now-obscure usenet group, before i eventually stumbled across hourglass2.. during those days, there was a poster who went by the name "prominent bethelite," an otherwise anonymous individual whom i remember most for an extensive, exhaustive compilation of date-oriented remarks, predictions, and expectations by the watchtower organization down through the decades of its history.. it became known as "the list" and it's definitely lengthy... but a fascination look at the abundance of errant statements made through the watchtower's history.. if you're curious, it's been available for a long time on hourglass2's site, and can be seen using the link provided below.. the list, compiled by prominent bethelite (1999).
that's about it for this stop through here.

Hello All! Recently I have begun selling again on ebay after a 10 year hiatus. I'm embarrassed to say, but years ago, I was in a bidding war for a original Photo drama of Creation book of the slides. I ended up winning the bid for $125.00 plus shipping. I was ecstatic to get a piece of history!
Now, you can purchase one for about $35.00 with free shipping. It seems that the interest in getting JW collectables has waned as the perception of the organization is changing. What a difference the internet has made! It appears that the 100 year celebration that they are touting is not going over as expected. If the rank and file were actually swallowing the B.S. and happy about the passage of time, the historical collectables would be flying off the shelves. The supply is huge and the demand is not there. TTATT is getting known!

Congregation Pledge Disgusted Elder
by rrb2016 inat the meeting the other night, the elder who had to read the announcements, which included the $$ info for the new donation arrangement seemed downright disgusted as he read the announcements and asked for the vote.
he said, "well, here is another organizational change" as he read the letter about the discontinuation of the 2nd meeting during co visit.
then after they voted, he said if you have any questions ask this other elder as if he wanted nothing to do with it.

Hello All! Being 4th generation, I realize that am socially stunted, in regard to those that are not JW‘s. I am forging ahead and endeavoring to build a life outside of JW's. I am trying as I can to socialize my child to make friends and be a normal kid. I am off work this summer and am thinking about setting up a 12 ft swimming pool in the back yard. I'd invite some of his school friends over and teach my child what it is to be 'normal'. (We are learning this together) He LOVES the water!
Have any of you done this? My house is small, so it cannot be a gathering place. I'm also considering the liability of it all. What if they slip and hurt themselves on my property? I have homeowners insurance. I usually have worked in the summer and had the child go to summer camp. Friendships are made, but not lasting because it is out of our neighborhood. Any/all thoughts would be welcomed. Thanks! 4thgen

My Child Has Asked Me to Divorce Husband

HI There- Hi There! Good communication. It's excellent that your daughter opened up for the reasons for saying what she did. Your reaction to the child’s demands for a divorce show that you are a loving and caring parent. You are also wise in not taking the advise of a child without input from friends/peers. Marriage can be tough....Especially as life reveals us truths that are unexpected. You need to do what is right for you and your family- regardless of what people say. As one of our friends stated: Breathe. Stop. Disengage. Distance. Think. Breathe and then think things through. There is not a ‘one size fits all’ response to your dilemma. If you love him and it is returned, do all you can to save your marriage. Think of the future and how it will affect your children. Would a divided household be better than a single parent? Only you can decide.
My situation involved abuse of my child. He was repentant to the elders, but unrepentant and cruel in private. So in my case there was no choice, no matter how much I loved him. A stand had to be taken swiftly and strong message had to be sent that abuse will not be tolerated in any form. Some of my well meaning friends tried to convince me to return, rather than break up the family, but I knew in my heart what was the right course. But believe me, it took years to finally file for divorce, because I loved him. In the end, I made the right decision for our family. (the friends who gave me the bad advise are no longer in my life, and they are still living unfulfilled marriages)
How will we really know until all is said and done and the child is out of the home?
There is wonderful support here at the forum, but digest it at your own pace. It’s your life and once decisions are made, they are hard to undo. Move slowly and deliberately. All the best….4 thgen

JwTalk confirms it's all bollocks
by konceptual99 inread this earlier on jwtalk in a thread about if the 100 years of the kingdom is part of the 1000 year reign.. actually this question goes back to how the brothers believed and saw things back in bro.
russell's day.
they thought 6000 years of human history and christ's second presence began in 1874, ( their chronology was 100 years off from that which we now accept - this was corrected in the 1940s ) believing such they thought the 1000 year reign began at that time.

Good catch. I remember reading years ago that they thought the industrial revolution was a tool by Satan to distract the brotheren from the beginning of Kingdom rule. Where did I read it? A real old publication, but I'm not sure I could find the source. Where did your come from? (I wish I had a mind like a steel trap, but mine is more of a sieve these days.) 4thgen

This topic gets me so worked up. They tell the rank and file not to put their trust in material things. Almost every JW I know went through a huge guilt about buying their first home.....or even taking time to fix it up or repair it, but yet the r&f are suppose to take care of the WT property first! ON top of it all, they criticize other religions for doing what they are doing. It makes me sick!----- just had to vent!
