How would you respond to this defense made on behalf of The Watchtower's Child Abuse lawsuits?
by adjusted knowledge indetails of the society's child abuse policies have been published in jehovah's witnesses' publications, although more specific guidelines are only made available to elders, or on request.
press releases issued by the watch tower society's office of public information confirm that if a person accused of molestation repeatedly denies the charges of his victim, and there is no other witness to the incident, "the elders cannot take action within the congregation at that time", but would report to authorities if required by local laws.
our families jehovahs witnesses and child protection.

They can say whatever they want, but it's by their actions that you see where they stand. It's not what they SAY it's what they DO. And they aren't doing anything to repair the damage or to correct the problem. They are only interested in CYA. -

Some phrases that were attention grabbers:
“…OTHERS knew of the problem (abuse) and covered it up” He was trying to distance the organization from their cover-ups. Hypocrite!
“….the plague of the new morality and the abuse of children.” B.S. It’s not part of the new morality; pedophilia has been around for centuries!
“it is clear that over the decades protecting children from abuse is a top priority for THIS organization. We are proud of our reputation in this regard.” OMG, Top priority? Yeah top priority to cover it up! Proud of their reputation…what is he smoking?
Then at the very end, they segued smoothly from child abuse into the evils of having a worldly career. If you listen carefully, you will note that they correlated the two things of equal measure. Child abuse and choosing a career.
It is sickening!
As for body language, did you notice he kept shrugging? It was quick, but he did it numerous times. Is he maybe trying to 'shrug' off all the accusations?

Strange Moment During The 2015 Regional Convention
by JW_Rogue inhi, i'm new here but hadn't seen this mentioned anywhere yet.
during the "imitate jesus" rc there was a strange moment where they played a video of a brother trying to explain the 1914 teaching.
the brother quickly goes through all the scriptural "proofs" and the householder is dumbfounded.

Freeminds hit it right on with "They seem to be making things try to seem light hearted and comical" in addition, when he says that he didn't get it the first time either...was a bit condescending. It was as if to say that the JW's get it, but he doesn't. Bringing that out at a District Convention or whatever they call it now, in that manner was as if one not understanding just didn't have the mental capacity to grasp it. In reality, it's all BS, that's why he didn't get it! -

Mentally Diseased - is it partly our fault that we got this label?
by cappytan ini was thinking about this the other day.. a common way for apostates to "fade" is to pretend to have depression or anxiety problems.. is it possible, that when apostates become known, the elders report to the society that said person was undergoing mental health problems?
i can see a scenario where the society then took those statistics that were reported and just decided, "well, it looks like the only ones leaving are those with mental diseases.".
oh, and not to mention the subliminal messages conspiracy theorists.

THEY have always correlated 'spiritual weakness' with being 'mentally unbalanced'.
It used to be that the WT never admitted that someone who was active could ever be clinically depressed. (they were not putting Jehovah first or they wouldn't be depressed or so they indicated) and if you just had enough faith you would not need medication or assistance from mental health professionals. It was a big deal when they actually admitted that the elders were not qualified to handle all cases.
They will never admit that THEY are the ones unbalanced and in need of mental health assistance (my preference is a lobotomy for them) for all the spiritual abuses they heaped upon the willing sheep.

The Religion Of Rejection - And Now That Includes Me
by dubstepped indue to some recent developments i find myself in a new place, and at this point i've lost all of my family and fri....oh that's right, i never really had any friends in the organization anyway.
just people that wanted something from me and a few people that i would invite to do things that occasionally said yes.
the recent rejections of me got me thinking, so let's take a rejection inventory.. i had to reject all of the holidays when my parents started studying.. i had to reject any worldly friends that i already had.. even family became rejected, and the new religion had some place in that.. i was rejected in school and bullied all of the time, not just because we were poor and i made good grades, but for jw reasons too.

dubstepped - Thank you for putting your feelings down in writing. I do not believe I have ever heard it put that way before. Upon reflection, yes ours was a religion of rejection. We were always taught that to be approved, we must be hated. Sick, isn't it? It takes a long while to rebuild, especially with all the deprograming that we have to go through. Two very positive things are your wife and your brother. That is a solid foundation on which to begin your new life. Expect ups and downs. You have made a wise decision. Cherish each day of your new found acceptance of a life of freedom. Best to you! -

I just don’t get it. The GB moved to Patterson and are conducting business from there, right? They are not printing as much literature as they once were and they are still operating Walkill for the magazines…er a ….pamphlets. Clearly the publisher numbers are decreasing despite their inflated reports and the failure of the trolley witnessing. What justification can they possibly give for building the new “World Headquarters” in Warwick? I am sure they are saying that it is God’s will they expand as a spin for what is really happening, but what is its actual purpose? Are they planning to move up the printing presses for printing books? That seems so ridiculous with everything going digital. Yet, if it was to be a retirement haven, surely they would continue to expand in warmer climates. What is the reason they are giving? And what is the REAL purpose of the compound in Warwick?

A Tug on the Leash (The Authority Which the GB Wields Over the R&F)
by Oubliette inrecently, several comments have been made in various threads in reference to some of the recent changes to a few of the rules by which jehovah's witnesses must live their lives in unquestioning compliance.
the assertion has been made that these rules are a "relaxing" of previous restrictions.
the suggestion has been made that this somehow indicates a corresponding relaxing or loosening or lessening of the authority which the governing body (gb) holds over the rank and file (r&f) members of the religion.
