As an active JW I NEVER gave any money to anyone. Now that I am not active, my heart has softened (What doesn that tell you?) and very often I will give something. Although I never reach into my wallet for cash, as it's showing them where my money is kept. But if I can see who I am approaching and want to give, I will stick some money into my pocket and smoothly give it.
As far as Lions Clubs, etc....Since I have recently been a charity volunteer, I now will always address person standing in the cold. If I cannot give, I will state that I've already given what I can to charity and appreciate their personal sacrifice.

Recently there was a post from Simon on inappropriate comments on the site. That lead me to wondering, what is the so-called etiquette for making friendships on the board? Do you have to be invited to PM? Or is it ok to PM someone if you like their comments, etc. I just got a nice PM from a member and enjoyed the interaction. I’m relatively new to the forum.

Rotary, Lions Club & Kiwanis, etc
by 4thgen inlike so many have said on this site, it is hard to begin again and make new friends.
this has been a real challenge for me.
i recently joined a local rotary club and have become acquainted with some very dedicated business people (some retired), wanting to be of service to others.

After lunch, the Rotary meetings do start with in ‘invocation’ and either the pledge of allegiance or a patriotic song. The invocation is similar to those I hear at sporting or other professional networking events. Sometimes it mentions God, other times not….this past week it was an ‘Ode to the Super Bowl‘. It was funny, actually. I don’t say the pledge or bow my head at the prayer. After they get past all that stuff, the meeting begins. Yes, to each his own. I haven't felt pressured....I suppose each club has it's own personality. It is a rough thing trying to build a life without having a clue how to be in the world. For me, (so far) it’s a good fit. I‘m having fun while being of help to others. It’s nice not to have to count hours ;)

Blonde brought this to my attention a couple of week ago. Who knew? Such a blantant scam.
The only positive thing I saw out of it was the published comment, when the WT wanted to distance themselves from the scam: "We....try to be honest, fearless, sincere and helpful. If we make mistakes forgive us. We repent "seventy times seven"." That was very impressive that they actually admited a mistake.
That would NEVER happen now....

Will Child Molestation Lawsuits Against The Watchtower Corporation Make It Claim Bankruptcy?
by frankiespeakin inwe all know sales are dropping in money recieved from printing literature and that it must have been a money drain for quite some time now at least from the time they went to a completely free literature offer to avoid paying ceaser's things to ceaser, so that now the next big finacial move is thru real estate flipping and capitalizing of the jw work force thru slave labor working conditions.. could these lawsuits bring them to the breaking point finacially i know there are a lot of nay sayers among us, but what say you and what is your gut feeling on this one?.

They prepared well a few years ago by liquidating the protecting their assets via legal vieils. Unfortunately, they will remain solvent. Remember they do not have to pay lawyers and fees, their labor is free like all the other volunteers. Yes, 'Religon is a snare and a racket".

Why Is Alcoholism Deeply Embeded In JW Culture?
by RottenRiley inwe get plenty of company men passing through our circuit, often filled with misinformation and lugging around a suitcase of guilt, they bring more guilt to the weak while praising the braggart pioneers and slapping the "righteous over much" elders.
why are the wrong people getting praise in this distorted community?
i know for a fact many of the elders i served with have issues with alcoholism, when "brother guilt" brought his emotional hurricane through our circuit, i had the chance to eat and help pay for his "seven shots of tequila", both him and his wife were not immune to over-indulgences.

Hello all! My ex is an active witness. I've been endeavoring to socialize my child ad best as possible. He loves sports in school, but has been intimidated by his father that after school activities are evil. When I have signed him up, he makes excuses why he can't play. If anyone has any suggestions on how to handle this, I'd really appreciate it.
PS I think I should add is that the reason for my concern, is that very shortly he will be too old for after school care. Shortly he will be on his own after school. I dont want him just hanging around with other kids getting into trouble. It would be better if he was in a structured environment. We are still working on making friends that are not Jws

by El_Guapo ini haven't been to a meeting in over a year, and as you know as soon as you stop attending meetings/fieldservice the "conditional" love becomes more apperant.
the coordinating elder starts off by saying how much he loves and misses me, etc.
i ask him, when was the last time you called or texted me?
