If you were told today you would die next week, would you be happy and fine with that?
by EndofMysteries ini don't know how so many who seem to be certain this life is it after being jw's seem to happily accept it and be fine with it.
i am living and trying to live as if this is it.
i want there to be a future life/afterlife, something, but i see how fast life comes and goes and even if i'm living it to the fullest, there is no peace for me with the thought this may be it.

According to Oct.1st 2012 WT Directions- Past Child Molesters CAN Be Appointed Elders
by flipper inconsidering the fact that the wt society refuses to release in courts any of it's written directions to elders through confidential letters to elder bodies- i thought i'd do the courts and wt society a "favor " by posting excerpts from this oct 1st.
2012 letter from the wt society to all bodies of elders.
these instructions are very exposing of the negligence of wt authorities in how they view the seriousness of felony child abuse.

Hi Flipper,In the late 1970’s there was an elder in our hall that was removed for having sex with a minor within our congregation. He was disfellowshipped and the girl disappeared. (Moved to a different area) Through the years, the brother became reinstated and worked hard to regain his reputation. He was told that he would never serve in the capacity of an elder again.
I saw the brother a few months ago and he said that he had good news to tell me. He said that they were considering him for a position within the congregation. I asked him how that could be the case. He said that the new CO said that since the incident happened years ago and he evidently has displayed Jehovah’s spirit, that it was possible within the next few months he can be appointed a MS and shortly afterwards an elder. He was so excited at the prospect. I care for the person, however I was devastated at the news.
My ex was also an elder and was removed and publically reproved for domestic battery. He has been working towards reappointment himself. Although he has not been reappointed, he works behind the literature counter and has various responsibilities within the congregation. He is hoping to gain a helping hand to into a position of authority again.
I shudder at the thought of any of this happening, but it is understandable from the viewpoint that there are very few men reaching out for oversight. THE WT is in a bind and need qualified men. HOWEVER, although it is understandable, it is unacceptable that these people could regain positions of oversight. Can you imagine if either of these men was reappointed and were assigned to a committee dealing with abuse? The victim would not stand a chance given their background and attitudes. God, I'm so glad I'm out!

How would you respond to this defense made on behalf of The Watchtower's Child Abuse lawsuits?
by adjusted knowledge indetails of the society's child abuse policies have been published in jehovah's witnesses' publications, although more specific guidelines are only made available to elders, or on request.
press releases issued by the watch tower society's office of public information confirm that if a person accused of molestation repeatedly denies the charges of his victim, and there is no other witness to the incident, "the elders cannot take action within the congregation at that time", but would report to authorities if required by local laws.
our families jehovahs witnesses and child protection.

They can say whatever they want, but it's by their actions that you see where they stand. It's not what they SAY it's what they DO. And they aren't doing anything to repair the damage or to correct the problem. They are only interested in CYA. -

Some phrases that were attention grabbers:
“…OTHERS knew of the problem (abuse) and covered it up” He was trying to distance the organization from their cover-ups. Hypocrite!
“….the plague of the new morality and the abuse of children.” B.S. It’s not part of the new morality; pedophilia has been around for centuries!
“it is clear that over the decades protecting children from abuse is a top priority for THIS organization. We are proud of our reputation in this regard.” OMG, Top priority? Yeah top priority to cover it up! Proud of their reputation…what is he smoking?
Then at the very end, they segued smoothly from child abuse into the evils of having a worldly career. If you listen carefully, you will note that they correlated the two things of equal measure. Child abuse and choosing a career.
It is sickening!
As for body language, did you notice he kept shrugging? It was quick, but he did it numerous times. Is he maybe trying to 'shrug' off all the accusations?

Strange Moment During The 2015 Regional Convention
by JW_Rogue inhi, i'm new here but hadn't seen this mentioned anywhere yet.
during the "imitate jesus" rc there was a strange moment where they played a video of a brother trying to explain the 1914 teaching.
the brother quickly goes through all the scriptural "proofs" and the householder is dumbfounded.

Freeminds hit it right on with "They seem to be making things try to seem light hearted and comical" in addition, when he says that he didn't get it the first time either...was a bit condescending. It was as if to say that the JW's get it, but he doesn't. Bringing that out at a District Convention or whatever they call it now, in that manner was as if one not understanding just didn't have the mental capacity to grasp it. In reality, it's all BS, that's why he didn't get it! -

Mentally Diseased - is it partly our fault that we got this label?
by cappytan ini was thinking about this the other day.. a common way for apostates to "fade" is to pretend to have depression or anxiety problems.. is it possible, that when apostates become known, the elders report to the society that said person was undergoing mental health problems?
i can see a scenario where the society then took those statistics that were reported and just decided, "well, it looks like the only ones leaving are those with mental diseases.".
oh, and not to mention the subliminal messages conspiracy theorists.

THEY have always correlated 'spiritual weakness' with being 'mentally unbalanced'.
It used to be that the WT never admitted that someone who was active could ever be clinically depressed. (they were not putting Jehovah first or they wouldn't be depressed or so they indicated) and if you just had enough faith you would not need medication or assistance from mental health professionals. It was a big deal when they actually admitted that the elders were not qualified to handle all cases.
They will never admit that THEY are the ones unbalanced and in need of mental health assistance (my preference is a lobotomy for them) for all the spiritual abuses they heaped upon the willing sheep.
