Brooklyn Bethel Tours Through The Roof
by freemindfade inwas speaking with someone last night who just recently toured the us bethel's.
the brooklyn tour i heard was awful, very limited and disappointing and conducted by a local pioneer and not even a bethelite.
well from what they are telling the folks on the tour since the tm3 bit encouraging (guilting) people about going to disneyland on vacation when you haven't visited bethel, monthly tours went from 6000 to 16000!

Brandnew - Lots of donations boxes in the lobby's where you have to wait to join your tour. And of course, there are donation boxes by the literature counter. Wonder if they have ATM's. though.... -

Just let me say, I hate the gray Bible. When I read the revision of Mal 3:10 and they included tithing, I almost vomited. Recently though, my invalid mother asked me to read to her and the only thing available was the gray Bible. So I picked a passage and read to her. I did notice that in the center of the Bible, there were very few cross references. The older NWT seemed to have many more.
I searched on this site for a discussion on the matter, but didn't seem to find a thread about this. Has anyone taken the time to compare the Bibles in this matter? I know they have changed to make it more mainstream and a Bible-for-Dummies, but what about all the removal of the cross reference threads?

Possible reason for cancellation of book study in homes.
by Amelia Ashton inthis was posted on fb.. so guys, i'm gonna share something with you all that i think you should know.
i've only told two people about this (one being john cedars) for fear of getting this guy into trouble, but it's very telling and will reaffirm your "ttatt faith!
a couple of weeks ago, i had to have an "ability to protect" assessment by a gentleman from a company that also investigates child protection policies etc.

So, since the gas prices are down, will they consider reinstating the home book study arrangement? Never. It was just a cover up. I had always heard that it was because of lack of control over the Dubs. People were more likely to talk of apostasy without constant observation. Remember how they always used to say that the bookstudy's were the most important meeting, as those were our core group for survival during the great trib? When they cancelled the bookstudy many of us were dismayed: Did this mean everything we were believing was wrong about the tribulation. Sure enough! No tribulation. They change was to cover the Wt's behind and of course, their $$$$ -

So much for a career that will last...didn't they say not to go to college, and get a good paying job...to pioneer instead? Career with everlasting benefits???? They likened a 'worldly career as taking a job on the Titanic...Well it appears they called that one wrong, too! Pink slip....Priceless! -

How to handle invites to dinner after Sunday meeting?
by FadeToBlack ini have not been to a meeting for over a year.
yesterday, when my wife returned from the 1 day assembly, i got an invite for dinner next sunday.
i said i would think about it, to be honest, as nice as the people are, it would just be boring listening to their comments about everything jw.

If the group will be all pumped up and talk about nothing but the 'best assembly they ever heard" and are using you to count their time....then no...But if I sincerely liked the people, I'd go. -

Thanks Divergent...I'm in the US and it used to be that if there was a need they could use a brother without his being appointed. Now, I'm not so sure....
Dunedian - Yes it was with my son. It was physical and emotional- not sexual. He beat him up so bad while he was an elder, he was arrested, removed and publically reproved. I will have to share the details of my story some day. It was an ugly mess that lasted over 5 years in the courts and many, many committee meetings. I was promised at the time 'no privileges- ever again', but I have learned the hard way never to trust the organization. It's only a matter of time.

My husband and I are divorced. I have custody of my tween son. I left 3 years ago on principle. My ex, who was removed as an elder for child abuse.... has been studying with him (during phone conversations and on his weekends) and taking him in service on his visitation weekends. We have no contact with JW's other than when he is with his father. Yet, he is an unbaptized publisher. He likes dressing up and walking the neighborhoods). My ex is sucking up to be reappointed.
During the visitation this weekend, the COBE has asked to speak to my son. My ex does not know why (?). Recently my ex-contacted the COBE at the local congregation and they are arranging for my son to be picked up to go to meetings, while he is living with me. They will need to approach me before he's picked up- and I will thank them for their concern, but basically tell them to butt out. Maybe the COBE wants to talk to my son about how he needs to stand up and tell me he wants to attend....He doesn't really- he HATES our hall here.
OR....The Special Day is coming up and I have a sneaking feeling that he will be asked to be on the platform. Does anyone have any experience in these matters? I do not want him to be on the platform, with all it's 'glory' and adoration. I am trying to keep him level headed and I'm afraid this will push him the other way.
Sorry that I am all over the place.... I HATE this game of cat and mouse, with my son being the pawn...I have a few days to prepare him for whatever may come, but I'm not sure where I'm at with this.

Hello! As many of you know, my ex-husband was removed as an elder for child abuse. I was told at the time he would never be reappointed in any capacity. Yet I heard today he was appointed as an account servant. Does he have to be an MS or is it based on local needs? There are so many changes lately, it's tough to keep up. BTW I have no illusions that I was lied to....and eventually he will be reappointed. All the Best, 4thgen
