i have always been extremely active in every aspect of the org, since childhood.
It's a horrid wake up call, but the thing is, you will make more friends, who will stick with you through thick and thin, and not just while you are going to the right church.

I got baptised at a stupid age. 12 I think. It was like a competition. I was the first amongst my peers. My dad was so pleased (maybe smug.)

i don't understand why so many ex jws and faders think that the jws will continue to grow and thrive as a religion.
i still attend a meeting once a week and you can smell the death of the religion creeping up when you hear the talks, read the study wts and hear the letters from the gb.
the way the organization has changed is a sign that it reached its peak (in "healthy" membership) long ago.
All they have to do is push the 'separating work' is happening now, and the drop off is nothing less than that fulfillment of 'the love of the greater number cooling off'. Raise your heads erect for your deliverance is near!
Or, in other words, no matter what happens to the organisation, it will be filtered to be good. Even if it closes down - it will just be for a while, like it did when the governing body were jailed in America. And then an angel let them out or something.

do parents here feel a strong sense of responsiblity for raising their children as witnessess?
an xwitness friend was saying she and her husband feel very bad for having brought up their children as witnesses and they feel they want to make amends but are unable to do so.
what advice would you give them.
I wouldnt feel to bad for bringing up your children as JWs.
You felt it was the right thing to do, and don't feel guilty about it.
As an ex JW, I do feel that I was protected in some ways, and now as an
ex, my upbringing has resulted in me having a fairly
strong resistance of peer pressure, not needing to feel
part of the crowd, and a yearning for social justice. Some of my peers think the next series of Towie
is the highlight of their week. And I don't ever want to be like that. Posting this in a pub which is never good. It makes sense to me.
i was running the cash till at the annual boy scout fundraiser yard sale yesterday, wearing my finest boy scout t-shirt and enjoying the blistering heat, when i saw a local family of witnesses browsing the merchandise.
they studiously avoided looking at me, but eventually a bargain nightgown proved irresistable and the wife was forced to approach the cash table and ask about pricing.
we avoid putting prices on each item because there is just too much stuff and we remind everyone that the money sends the kids to summer camp so the guilt kicks in and people pay more.
I think the sister might be worried about stumbling others! Buying stuff from the scouts?
