Contradictory geneology of Jesus

so i'm reading another carl sagan book and he seems to invariably find a way to slam j-dubs in each one.

(i can't say i blame him.).

anyway, in this one he discusses the fact that the gospels give contradictory geneologies of jesus--differing lines back to david from joseph, and a different number of generations.

Are we nitpicking???

jw's walk like this, they eat this way, they look like this,.

they have sex this way (lol), they talk this way and etc.. are we excessively concerned with or critical of inconsequential.

I think sometimes we can over analyse things as "JW" traits, when at times they can be personality traits or something not necessarily specificially related to JWs.

However, it's FUN. For years we've been told never question, never analyse, never use 'higher reasoning'.

So it's only natural that when we are free we go a bit overboard. Haha.

please don't take this the wrong way if your battling weight problems, that's not what this thread is meant to talk about.

i am asking this question because jehovah's witnesses claim they have "the best way of life", "god's blessing", "the truth" and are trying to change the habits of healthy people by turning them in to their own makings.

i watched people who were great athletes turn all their muscle in to fat because we would get a elder or circuit overseer make remarks they were spending too much time "working out" and "bodily training is beneficial for little".

He probably hates himself and this is transference. In a way. But he should be more mindful of "hurtful comments".

i used to love the old ones.

these new ones feel like the equivalent of a deflated balloon.. does anyone have the answer?.

Some of the changes are so minor -on the surface- I wonder why they bothered.

i've been having a bit of an email exchange with elder dad and i need some advice.

i thought i was getting through to him but i think my criticism and tone became a bit too strident in my last email and now he thinks that i am attacking him personally.

i think he has dismissed everything i said because he perceived me as 'overally critical, and rude.. .

i have been offline for a bit while implementing "phase move.

" i just logged into jw.org to find out times/locations for local kh to choose from (needed for phase 2 ).

after logging in, i find the usual options plus a new option i didn't know was added..... my preferences.

I do not miss anything about the conventions

this weekend nearly everyone i have ever known or that i am related to is sitting in a convention.

i miss none of it!!!!.

I don't miss parents scrimping and saving for accommodation, food etc.

I do miss the 'cocoon' of not having to worry about anything else, ever, cos god will sort it out the day after tomorrow.
Also miss the boozing that used to go on in pubs afterwards (I used to be so judgemental towards those people!)

JW.ORG Business Cards?

did anybody else get an announcement at their meeting about the branch approved jw.org business cards?.

apparantly, they're real slick and fit into your wallet (making it easier to informal witness).

the logic was, some people don't want to be handed a big tract and would prefer something smaller.. so strange considering how little there is to those tracts!

There's also Moo cards from Flickr. You can have a nice picture of the paradise earth on one side and JW.org on the other.
If you leave one at the same table at Starbucks every week you can count it as a return visit.

My Book of Bible Stories- Sex and Violence

on a previous post on the bible's sex-violence several mentioned children and the yellow book (1978 version).

i will compile a list here.. one only needs to go to story 6 to find a man smashing his brothers skull in and picture of his brother's blood on the ground.

the very next story 7 has pictures of violence, clut worship, drunkeness, (unimplied sex).. the next story 8 shows a giant beating a person the death while holding them with one hand.
