Nova Scotia declares STATE OF EMERGENCY..

we are in the midst of the worst blizzard of the winter today.. state of emergency.. for nova scotia has been just declared.. snow plows have stopped plowing and are looking for stranded motorists.. series 103 highway has been declared impassable... i'm bunkered down with my 3 kids..and can hardly see out the windows..they are all gummed up with horizontal snow... sincerely bunkered down with my kids.. special k

The CBC says that we are now in a "Code-Black" which means "ambulances are responding to people with life-threatening injuries or illnesses first. Doctors and paramedics are screening 911 calls."
Also the Confedation Bridge is closed. Getting worse and worse!

lol, What I said about NS Power, I take back, we lost our power from 2:30 to 4:30 and its 5 now. The power just flickered too. At 2:30 I called the Power Outage line, 1-877-428-6004, to see when it was gonna be back on, they said Feb 20 at 7.30 PM!! Thank goodness it came back on!
But man, my mom is annoying! She's all mad and upset, menopause... lol, about my dad being out. He had to go out because my sister went to work, and locked her car with the engine running and he had the spare! Well, he had to stop and help someone and try to get them out for 45 minutes and then took them to Wolfville, farther then he needed to go. Then he went back to my sister's work and unlocked and shut off the engine. Then he when to lunch. All this time, the roads are only getting worse, as the plows Just started again with the V-plows. And he's still out there trying every possible way to get home, so he thinks he is going to go to one of my sisters' houses. I called the DOT and they said that they won't be out our way til tonight!
Well, I probably could say more, but I'd better send this before the power goes out again!

PS, Special K, the closest to me is Coldbrook on the 101. I'm in the Kentville area

I'm just really really surprised that the power isn't out! It seems that previous years when we got 10 cm and a bit of wind, the power would be out for the day! Maybe NS Power got it all together after Juan

We got hit hard in the valley too! A lot of snow! I haven't been outside yet, still in bed! Wireless laptop! but the 101 is closed too and some the military bases are closed too

My first job was a temp/weekend job on a potato harvester for a Witness's farm, who went bankruct the next year... probably due to their huge spendings on cars, dirtbikes etc.
Last summer I worked for another Witness farm, which I loved doing! Half the time, the harvester broke down so we sat in the dirt for 3 hours and getting paid!! I hope do be working for them this summer/fall again! $7.80 isn't bad for a 15 year old!

Okay... How many of you ski or snowboard?
by shamus ini grew up on alpine ski's, took up snowboarding for a while, until it got incredibly boring, and now i've been into tele-skiing for about five years now.
i just love it!
before my accident, i could jump-telemark nearly any slope.

I go skiing a few times a year at a little 'mountian.' Some of you Rockie Mountain skiers might laugh at it as its only about 500-600 feet high. But I do love skiiing! I tried snowboarding once for about a hour and half and decided I didn't like it. But I really wanna try monoskiing, it looks awesome!
