Welcome Terri
I am new here also. Great place. I never fit in at the KH.
You are way smarter than you think. You questioned the borg.

i have heard about this forum from someone, but i won't say who as i don't want to expose them.
i am in the process of evaluating my life as a jw.
it has been a pretty sad life - without a real feeling of 'belonging'.

i was talking with an old friend of mine who had gone to the assembly just a couple of weeks ago.. he told me the story of a young boy, who went with his mother door to door all his life, from a very young age.
apparantly, the boy was upset when his mother when to pioneer school without him back when he was 4 years old or so.
but, of course, he was too young to attend the school, so his mother went without him.. the boy is now 11, a regular pioneer, baptized, and very disappointed for he will not be allowed to go to pioneer school until he reaches the minimum age, 16.. what a fine example everyone!!.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
They let this poor child be TRAPTIZED!
Yet if he is discouraged by the 16 year old minimum age and stops wanting to be a JW then he could loose his whole family! That is heartbreaking
DAMN CULT

........................and i read them.
big mistake!
as i read them i felt like the person that wrote them was a pathetic, crawling, stupid, insecure, brain-washed, idiot!
Rekless,
I feel that your son is smiling now knowing that your eyes are eide open about the borg. He knows how much you love him. I have lost a child also. My was to an auto accident. I know the pain of loosing ones child.

jw's can't do this.
they can't do that.
restrictions abound.
iiz2cool your post craked me up.
I heard one elder say in a talk that we shouldn't go to PG rated movies, that PG stood for "Pure Garbage". I later saw some porn flicks at his house.
Sounds like that elder leads a double life. lol
When I was a new JW I asked an elder about the JW stand on oral sex. His answer was "A little face in the right place is no disgrace."
hmmmmmmm this one did not read his WT. lol I think a lot of us chose to ignore that stupid rule.
I remember a WT article in 1974 stating that cold sores were the cause of most herpes. Duh if you have a cold sore don't do it. But if you do not well then why the hell not do it. That article was just plain dumb.
My fondest memories from my JW daze were from drinking in strip bars with my MS buddy, who used to get on the stage and dance with the strippers! Somehow, he never got bounced out! Going there was a great stress reliever
You were a very naughty JW That MS you were with set a bad example
Well at least you have some good memories of your prision sentance in the borg.

jehovah's witness puppies.
a young boy was walking along the road with puppies in a wagon.
he was walking by a kingdom hall where a district overseer stood outside on the grass.
Jehovah's Witness Puppies
A young boy was walking along the road with puppies in a wagon. He was walking by a Kingdom Hall where a district overseer stood outside on the grass. Curious, the district overseer asks "What kind of puppies are those?" In reply the boy said: " They're Jehovah's Witness puppies". The district overseer chuckled and the boy was on his way. The same boy walked by the kingdom hall once more and the district overseer this time was standing with some elders. The district overseer said "Watch this" and asked again "What kind of puppies are those?" The boy this time said "Love Puppies." The district overseer, shocked, said, "I thought you said they were Jehovah's Witness puppies." The boy said "Yeah, but today their eyes opened!"

mine was when i was about ten years old or so back in the mid sixties.
we had a guy in our k.hall who actually lived through the 1914 experience (earl senior).
he was well into his seventies i guess even then and was one of the annointed.
When a wife and child beater was not disfellowshipped. The elders and the GB were threatened with a law suite so they choice not to take action.
So much for a clean organisation that buts it's trust in Jehovah.
That made me "know" that this was NOT God's organization.

...hello all, i'm what you'd call a shunned father seeking jws brave enough to talk to me or exjws who might have known my would-be family in the sacramento valley/northern california area... my names andy and i am seeking my twelve tear old daughter *edited*, born in sacramento 1991... the mother's name is *edited*, she shunned me, then disappeared and married a jw man taking on a new last name which i still cannot find out... she might have had more children with her new hubby since, but i have not been able to find out... .
...any tips, help or useful suggestions greatly appreciated, thank you.
Andy,
I lived in Sacto as a JW from 1975 to 1978. I knew of two JW sisters that moved to hide from thiier ex's.
One moved to Willits, the other to a town close to there. You had to drive down a very long windy road to get to there. I do not remember the name of the town. Mostly Indians lived there at that time.
These towns were suggested to by the elders.

for all of you who made a conscious decision to leave the organization.. what was the price you had to pay or what was you willing to give up in order to be true to yourself.
( wife, children, extended family, friends, jobs...etc).
and how have you coped?
Well for me it is just one special person who was like a mom to me.
I have been out many years. I just walked away.
We remained close until a few months ago when she asked me if I was going to return to Jehovah's organisation. I said no. She said that she could no longer keep things between us going.
There must be preasure on at the hall these last few months.
But I have my mind!
