i think it's absolutely amazing how people strip off the old personality, and put on the new personality when they enter the kingdom hall.
everyone looks incredibly phony.
those smiles aren't genuine.
Did anyone else realize this when they were still attending meetings? Didn't it start to disgust you when you saw through it all?
Yes, I was disgusted and it made me really mad at times too.
I would sit at the meetings and wish I could have stayed home, but my husband (now ex) would make my life miserable if I didn't go. He would be so.. spiritual at the hall and just the opposite when we got home.

Yes, Nosferatu, I remember. The have a nice day smile look. Once an elder said to me"maybe Jehovah will strike him dead." talking about a brother whose behavior he didn't approve of. When he told me this he had the biggest and a wicked laugh to go with it. Now, that was scary and thinking about it now makes me want to
on september 8, 1963 my sister, carmen elizabeth was born.. she was, and would remain the only girl in our family.
she was so adorable, brown haired, brown eyed and had a great smile.
she was less than a year younger than i, and we were like the 'best of pals' as kids.. she'd allow me to put beans in her ears, or get her to put peas in her nose or carrots on top of her teeth, and make me laugh.. she was born in cape breton, nova scotia.

i'm in a bit of a state at the moment, my wife has just left me about 30 mins ago and took the kids...i don't know where.... ok, some of you long-timers may remember the problems i had with my son ben, who decided that the jw religion wasn't for him about a year ago.
i supported him as best i could through that and he's developed into a fine young man with a more healthy spiritual attitude, investigationg a number of christian churches in the area and finally settled on church of england, which he really likes now.. although no longer a christian myself i have no objection to them pursuing whatever religious path they choose (obviously within reason).
that has been the case with all of my children: ben, 15, charlotte, 14 and chloe, 12. i have never attempted to stop my wife taking them to the meetings although i have voiced to them privately my concerns about the religion.

Sorry, that you have to go though this nightmare. I think you have gotten some real good advice so far. I don't have anything to add to the mix. My thoughts are with you and I wish you the best possible outcome.

i'm sick of my job, sick of the city i'm living in, sick of most of the people who surround me daily.
like a lot of folks here, i was "encouraged to find education within jah's service" discouraged from seeking further education whilst being raised in the troof.
were it up to my father, i probably wouldn't have been permitted to attend regular public school, grades k through 12, much less college---education was that much maligned in my family.
Hi,
Congratulations on the baby. I understanding to some extent what it is like to not have your interests etc. valued by others. My worldy family still does not get why I am interested in anything they are not. I decided not to care what they or any other people think about my interests or tastes. I think it is great you are wanting to learn about the things you have a passion for. Sorry, I don't have any books I can recommend. When I was in college, there were a lot of people in their 50s doing well in the studies they took - up. I do not feel it is ever too late to go to school. What about taking classes online? Everyone is different, and this is just my 2 cents.

johnny depp likens u.s. to 'dumb puppy'

I believe Johnny when he says his comments were taken out of context , and even they were not, I think he has a right to his opinion as do the rest of us on this planet.
Depp also said: " I am an American. I love my country and have great hopes for it," " It is for this reason that I speak candidly and sometimes critically about it. I have benefited greatly from the freedom that exists in my country and for this I am eternally grateful."
Explaining his comments a day later, Depp had been using a metaphor that was "radically out of context." adding,"There was no anti-American sentiment."
"What I was saying was that, compared to Europe, America is a very young country and we are still growing as a nation," he said. "My deepest apologies to those who were offended, affected, or hurt by this insanley twisted defromation of my words and intent"

i have been doing contract work for about four years now and i have been trying to get a permanent position for well over a year.
last week i did an interview for a job that would have been perfect.
it was even very close to where i live... within a five minute drive.. this morning i got feedback and they really liked me, but decided to go with another candidate.

i admit to it (as i'm spraying on my chanel christalle and putting on my make up.
spent last night tearing through vogue; my mani/pedi appointment is tonight.....).
no, "admit to it" isn't the correct sentiment.
Beryl,
I tend to dress for the occasion. I used to work in the make-up field, and was told I was good at it. I've been called a "girly girl" at work unrelated to the above mentioned field too. But, most people don't realize I dress and look differently than my work image would suggest. Of course, when I do some other activities like going to work-out at the gym I don't wear make-up. I dress for whatever it is I am doing, kind of like and actress uses clothes etc.

just wanted to say i'm so sorry for not welcoming all the new ones, not responding yet to all the wonderful replies to my posts, not saying happy birthday to everyone, and not being a good friend to those in need.
i've been sick, as well as preoccupied.
there's a major rant building up in me....which i will append to this post; aren't you all lucky.. i feel like such a frigging loser.. let me just say: it's no one's fault that i got sick and had to start my life over, esp.
Beryl,
I'm sorry to hear you are feeling so bad. It sounds like the co-worker and the boss are both jealous. The only suggestion I can give is don't listen to that co-worker! Take your power back dear. I also agree that you should keep notes. I hope you are feeling better soon, and that things go better for you at work.
Love, Prudence
