Without trying to hijack this thread,
My father died of cancer 3 years ago, as an elder, and I was in the room with him and my mother when the surgeon said that a transfusion was the only possible way of attempting to stop the disease. Was there Watchtower policy allowing him to take that chance?

I've told my generation story before so I won't go there. Needless to say the elders I met with claimed the wts never said a literal generation and I better watch my attitude.....I left.
I reckon the next "new light" will be how disfellowshipped people are treated. Reckon it will come out something like this... The examples of the treatment of those who turned away was only applying to the jews in jesus time. After prayerful consideration, jsus christ thru his organisation has instructed us to speak to and even encourage these "prodigal sons" to return to the faith. What a loving org!

There were hemoglobin-based products being used experimentally then (FDA had to approve each case; and your insurance had to be on board) on patients including JWs. I don't know if this product would have helped your father.

My parent are English, so there was never an issue of providing medication.
My only curiosity is if there was a possibility the he could have taken blood to take a chance of recovery. His absolute refusal of last chance assistance is still haunting me to this day. A waste. But, that's another story

I think the blood issue will be further watered down.

I think they would say they were right,then they were more right and in the future they will be really..really right.They sure don't like to say the word wrong.
She, in the most patronizing manor, put me in my place explaining how that was old light, and didn't matter anymore.
Stevenyc...It always amazed me how they could brush off this firmly imbedded teaching as nothing more than old light.
There was NOTHING RIGHT about this belief. It was just a way of keeping production up for the WT corporation.
I had another friendly discussion with my husband along those lines last weekend, but ours was in the form of ch-ch-ch-changes made by the Org. It was the same old line of reasoning(?)......of course there are changes, Jehovah's people have always adapted and made changes throughout Bible history as Jehovah required of them at the time. We shouldn't expect it to be any differently now. I brought up the fact that so many people have needlessly died over mandates concerning blood that are now acceptable. You know the answer....the point is that they died faithful and will be resurrected. It's all a test.....sigh......

Brothers...At times some of Jehovah's People™ (us) have speculated about the answer to 2+2
"SOME" have even "fallen away" speculating about the answer. In Jehovah's due time "New Light" will reveal the complete answer.
In the meantime we should all "wait on Jehovah"™
