Yesterday I saw something I've never seen before. A Protestant church on the left side of the road has a sign saying it's their 50th anniversary. There is a RC church right across the street. They have an even bigger sign saying something like, "Happy Anniversary (Church A), it's a pleasure to be your neighbor".

    Just thought that was nice.

Ha! It's only one of satan's nefarious tricks to make you think other churches are getting along! It's a charade.

JWs would like you to think that most churches out there do NOT get along and that there are major divisions between them. What I've found since I've been DFed is that most churches get along very well and do all they can to support each other. Of course there are exceptions as always. But most churches just want people to be good and go to church. Do they prefer you go to theirs? Of course! But at least go somewhere where you are getting "fed" spiritually.

The churches I've attend usually partner up with other churches (even not of their own denomination) when it comes to serving the community. Red Cross events, major disasters, etc. There really isn't the rivalry that JWs would like you to think.

    I couldn't agree more Billygoat.

I'm one of the owners of the local Christian bookshop and most churches and their members get on great, work together and have lots of joint ventures and initiatives

At my wife's church (Roman Catholic) from time to time they have speakers from different denominations, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Baptist, etc. Being raised a JW I was like, wtf, I told the wife that wouldn't fly in the KH.

It's the same downunder. They may pray for each other and have visiting speakers from each other, or to be more accurate, it doesn't make much difference to them which church they regularly attend, so long as they stand for Christ, they are in fellowship together.

Let me give an example; an Anglican church near Australia Bethel is presently supporting a student minister in his studies - he will pastor an aboriginal church in Minto (also near Australia Bethel) - and he's invited to lead some of their church services - - yet he's a Baptist!

Another example: the World Day of Prayer. The churches in a community rotate the hosting of this annual event.

    Thank you for sharing that!

Actually the churchs where I live reguarly get together on ventures.

This weekend all the Churches on my side of town from many assorted denominations are putting on a massive hip hop music festival for the youth. Everywhere you go you can see signs advertising it and the feedback we have heard so far is that the youth on this side of town are really looking forward to it.

Its a big project but the churches worked together to do something fun for the kids.
