My pastor tells this story to highlight the successes and failure of churches working together. A group of pastors agreed to meet monthly to pray for our city. This was so successful they talked about organizing a joint communion service.

Well, that's when the problems popped up.

Some churches served communion monthly, others only on Easter. One denomination would hold it on any day except Easter. They had to drop the idea.

That story taught me that in essence, we are all the same. It's the details we bicker over. http://www.creeds.net/

I am especially gratified when a group of churches coordinate their charitable activities. For instance, if church A runs a hugely successful soup kitchen, church B might have a thriving senior's get-together. Another might provide support to single parents, and another, a clothing exchange. The next step is to get over our internal prejudices and RECOMMEND those in need to the best church in the neighbourhood to meet their need. I just don't think it is efficient or possible for a single church to be good in all things.
