CoC is the greatest modern book of truth ever written. In my opinion......the Bible itself is THE greatest book of truth.
Defd........don't be afraid to read it. It is as if you are actually afraid of reading the Bible on it's own. When you read it without the aid of WT verse twisting literature, it has an entire different meaning. You are trying your best to hang on to what you believe even though the WT belief system is full of holes. Ray Franz lived it and there is not one iota of non truth or embelishment in CoC.
You are one heck of a good guy, yet you are afraid of learning that what you have put your life into might be wrong. I was the same way, but in spit of my instilled fear, ordered and read the book. It made me think.
Don't be afraid to think and don't be afraid of truth defd.
Fear will keep you from ever learning!

I had had doubts for years and years, but I never even considered looking at an 'apostate' website or reading anything even mildly anti-JW. When I finally got up the courage to read stuff online, I was already completely out of the WT in my mind. CoC was the first book I read after that. It confirmed what I was already sure of, that the WT is not what it claims to be.
Great book!

I read CoC last spring, after I had been posting on JWD for about 3 months. Before I found JWD I had no idea that CoC was out there.. I'd say it is a must read for all.
I read it two years into our fade. After finishing it, I never went back to the KH. That was in 1997.
[edited to add: Why does every damn thread end up turning to Derrick aka Defd? I am guilty of it too. Can we move on to others of great interest. A lot of great people post here besides Defd. - Sorry just venting a little - he is so frustrating to deal with.]
I often wonder about that too Jeff. Seems some on the board have made defd/Derrick into a project and he dont even know it.

I read it not long after I had stopped attending meetings. I hadn't then decided whether I was going back or not. After reading COC, I knew I would never set foot in a kh again.

This is exactly why I choose to ignore Deft and refuse to respond to any of his posts. You might even say I'm shunning him.
I meant Defd not Deft....
But to get back on topic. I read CoC recently, earlier this year, years after leaving the WBTS.
Unless I missed it, I dont think anyone didnt appreciate the book, which is pretty amazing really !!!!
