On the contrary.............. The witnesses are the ones who broke away during the Judge's reign of terror and the effects are still here today.

Sorry - my apologies- you are correct of course

had2bhime, I am familiar with and respect most of the teachings of the Quran, however I don't derive my beliefs from them. My beliefs are shaped by what I know of God personally and what I read of God in history, legend, and myth. Eternity is a very long time. I do not believe there is an individual so vile within their tiny short little lives that they could possibly merit an eternity of damnation for their iniquities. But I have met a few who should roast nicely for a while.

Again, welcome. Please share your (tentative) answers to your questions. What are you thinking the answers are (or probably are)?

well then what is right? i thought that the JW had it the closest....i dont see how anybody can agree with a trinity, or how mormons agree with a segregated heaven, nor can i give credit to religions that support either side during a war.

what i think is right is this...just my opinion

    - Is the Quran the truth or is it just stolen ideas from other religions put together by a mad man or a man who was quite possibly visited by a demon rather than an angel?

i think he was crazy and made the quran to gain power

    - Are the JW the only ones who acknowledge the name of god and use it in their religion?

up untill what you guys have just posted, i thought JW were the only ones besides jews

    - Why are the "elders" allowed to kick out or as i feel "judge" another witness?

because somebody down the road felt it would be a smart thing to do....i completely disagree with this part of the religion, nobody but god should be allowed to judge man, my father was kicked out because his mental condition (schizophrenia) renders him incompetent and makes him violent.....how is that his fault?...

    - Is it really logic to think that a loving and caring god would condemn his creation to hell?

i wouldnt send my dog to a hell regardless of how many mail men he bites, and i wouldnt give him any treats either...just an example

    - What is the closest religion to the truth other than JW?

islam?..kinda, apart from jesus not drying on a cross and other crazy things im starting to think theyre the most devoted people to god

Welcome to the board. You will get many answers to these questions. Here are mine:

    - Is the Quran the truth or is it just stolen ideas from other religions put together by a mad man or a man who was quite possibly visited by a demon rather than an angel?

Mohammed took the basics from the jews, their 'old testement', as did those who became christianity. He added some of the local traditions along w adapting it somewhat to the local environment.

    - Are the JW the only ones who acknowledge the name of god and use it in their religion?

Heck no. Jews have always acknowledged it, even though they didn't shout it from the rooftops as do the jws. Most christian religions, especially the evangelicals use it.

    - Why are the "elders" allowed to kick out or as i feel "judge" another witness?

They are the enforcers for the wt corp.

    - Is it really logic to think that a loving and caring god would condemn his creation to hell?

No, it isn't. A god of love would save all. Not one sparrow would be lost. I am not saying that an almighty god of love exists.

    - What is the closest religion to the truth other than JW?

Perhaps taoism, since it is a study of how things work. It's a bit like science, only science is not supposed to be a religion.

    had2bhime...

I see with your posts you are leaning toward Islam. It shows that you are at least searching. I personally don't believe there is "one true religion", as I believe all religion gets corrupted by the power-greedy. If you look at Christianity today, it for the most part is a far cry from what The Christ taught... and far from his actions! I feel the same way about Buddha vs Buddhism. and so on.

If you are interested in Christianity at all, read the New Testamont. Mostly the Gospels. This is the basis for early christianity. Then Paul took over and (I believe) corrupted it.

Further I suggest as a searcher that you look at the Bahai faith. I have found more Bahai's to be deeply devoted to God and their beliefs. They are a highly passive group, and teach peace and strong family.

I, for one, have no need to belong to a group of thought. I am happy with my beliefs and I have come to them on my own, through great searching and experience. Many of my beliefs, I have found after the fact, have groups associated with them. But belonging to a belief structured group is not necessary to feel and be a part of "God" "Jesus" "The Universe" or whatever Higher Power you choose to believe.

Good luck to you on your journey

Most who post here are ex-JW's. Many have become athiests, agnostic, buddhists, christians, catholic, etc. Our common denominator is that we are here to discuss Jehovah's Witnesses.

hi, had2beme, lots of people are quitting association with JWs because they can't be themselves, but they search for answers and get stuck. So many opinions about JWs, the Bible, and religion in general. Islam's holy book is just another silly book of faith. IMO at least it claims to be the word of god whereas the Bible was compiled as a bunch of books, some contradictory and some having nothing to do with the others. Lots of religions use Jehovah or Yahweh. They're everywhere, they just don't make such a big deal about using what they think might be God's name as it really doesn't appear in the new testament and Jesus never used it. Rutherford had one thing right: religion IS a snare and a racket. Please don't jump out of the frying pan and into the fire. I recommend you do a lot of skeptical and rational thinking before you think about finding another faith. Welcome to JWD.
