    Greetings!

This is my first Halloween as a free man

So I looked up the word Halloween and discovered some really cool things. For instance, the word comes from "All Hallows Eve", because of being the night before the Feast of Martyrs (All Saints Day). I never noticed the "Holy" part of the name before, but now I see the connection with "Hallowed be Thy name". I thought that was interesting (ok, maybe I'm just a geek).

So what is something that you find cool, fun or interesting now that you can enjoy the whole thing without the wt demon filter on?

I have to say..being involved in the gothic subculture Halloween is one of those days when we actually dont look out of place. I do enjoy the chance to stock up on black nail polish, lipstick and fishnets. There is just something very magical and cool about Halloween and especially the decorations.

Well, it's not my first Halloween... but it will be my boyfriend's 3rd since getting out of the WT organization... and he loves everything about it. He gets very excited about holidays, so I try my best to do as much Halloween related stuff with him as possible because it's almost like having a little kid celebrate stuff in a way. I know that might sound demeaning, but it's really not. It's just that with all of the holidays he is experiencing them like a little child would... he has like a sense of wonderment at them. So I do with him everything that someone might do with a little kid... we carve pumpkins, go to corn mazes, go to this thing called "fright fest" at the Six Flags near us, we decorated his apartment with pumpkin lights and little bats and stuff, and we're dressing up. :-) He LOVES to dress up. Last year I was a cat (a sexy one!) and he was Gilligan (you know, from Gilligan's Island). This year I am going to be a gypsy and he's going to be a beatnik.

Halloween is my favorite time of year!

What's fun? How about the party stevenyc is throwing this satuday in nyc?

Kristyann you said your by six- flags? You and your bf should try to make it. Write to steve if you'd like to go.

What else do I love? The village parade in manhattan on halloween night. It's one of the largest in the world. Hours and hours of people in costumes. It's even on cable some years.

Halloween has to be lived. It's no fun if you do nothing but tons of fun if you do. Bars and clubs here are a blast this weekend too. Hmmm, maybe i'll go to one friday, go to the party saturday, and the parade halloween night.

    Hope everyone has a blast

    Tetra, you rock.

This is the time of year when I can break out my lovely corset and wear it in general public without persecution. :laughs: Sorry, I just think about how often I used to tell myself that because I was persecuted I was following The Truth TM.

And of course, what holiday would be complete without candy?! CANDY CANDY CANDY! Of course, I buy only the best candy to hand out now. No skimpy, cheap candy at this house, no siree!

I'm a big Siouxsie and the Banshees fan so every Halloween evening I turn out all the lights to a darkened house and blast my stereo playing such creepy songs like "Melt!", "Playground Twist", "Carousel", "Scarecrow", and scare the s**t out of the trick or treaters that come by the house. (Oh yeah, and I dance like crazy to the music).

We have kids, so we get to revel in providing them a NORMAL childhood that includes trick or treating!

(Zach and I will be ghosts, Gina and Sierra will be witches. You simply do not know what cute is until you see Sierra in her witch hat. There WILL be pics!)

I have trouble getting into Halloween in that I have no interest in dressing up myself, but enjoy watching my kids have fun and participate with their friends. I like being home and handing out the candybecause I always felt so low on Halloween growing up, having to turn out all the lights and pretend that we were not home.
