Im not knocking the ones who celebrate. But being around much death lately, I just can't see the fun in the macabre. Just a fuddy duddy I guess.

Dressing up my kids and going out with them trick-or-treating and saying hi to all my neighbors at the door.

I love Halloween. I dont go overboard with decorations or any thing like that because my budget is limited. I love carving up the pumpkins though. My first halloween was about five years ago and my newborn son was too little to take out so I sat and gave out candy to the kids. I had so much fun that year talking to all the kids and asking them what kind of tricks they would be performing. The following years were a little more work because I'm actually out making the rounds with my kids. This year my five year old is Captain Hook, my two year old son is Peter Pan, and my two year old daughter is Tinker Bell.

My favorite part (besides the candy that my kids collect for me, LOL) is the pumpkin carving. I have a blast carving them and let me tell you, I'm pretty damn good.

Sounds like y'all have some super fun on the holidays. I too feel like a little kid about the whole thing. My daughter is still a little shy about it so probably going to try something light.

Carving pumpkins sounds like fun, never did that Maybe do a Harry Potter marathon and make popcorn balls or something. Thx for some ideas (especially the candy! I forgot all about trick-or-treaters!), but I might pass on the orgy this year, lol.

Eating them is fun, too.

Buy a smaller dark skinned "cooking pumpkin", cut out the top, but leave the stem attached to the piece you cut out. Replace top after you stuff the pumpkin.

Scrape out the seeds, then pre-cook some hamburg and mashed potatoes, mix them together, fill the pumpkin.

Place on a deep cookie sheet, about 2 or 3 inches deep, because the pumpkin makes a lot of juice, and bake till pumpkin is soft. (Poke a fork into it to test).
