I think you need to work on trusting your boyfriend. Men make such decisions with much caution and concern that it will be best in the long term. I speak as a part-owner of a business myself. It involves a lot of decision making, planning, and responsibility. I doubt he'd just jump into an unresponsible position if he's demonstrated good faith in the past, as well as supporting you in your time of need. If you want to call your feelings "selfish"... well I'd say you both have a healthy amount of pride, and that's a GOOD thing. I would think that successful relationships usually work because both partners have a lot of pride, don't want to let the other down, and have confidence in his or her self to get the job done, so to speak.

(sorry I missed your other thread, please tell me this is not an MLM!!!)
It's an MLM. I know this works for some people. Mulan has had success with her business, and I've known some witnoids who also had a knack for it, but not everybody is cut out for these things.
I hope alone's b/f is cut out for it and that he makes a success of it. I do. Its just that I've had some experience being recruited for this stuff as well as watching my son almost get involved...and it's frightening. Its possible to spend a lot of money, get no return on your investment, waste a lot of time, and alienate a lot of people.
There was an elder here who went around recruiting the bros and sis's at the KH for his MLM. He was making money hand over fist, but then he was also conducting recruiting meetings a couple nights a week in his beautiful home. He really worked at it. I know a couple of people asked that he stop bothering them and at least one brother brought his complaints to the PO. I don't know if Elder MLM is still doing this or not as it was starting to ruffle feathers in the congregation only months after he started. And that's the thing that I could never get into...the fact that you had to tap friends and relatives first to get started...it felt like (for the few hours I actually contemplated doing this) you had to look at everybody as a mark. You could never have a normal conversation with someone without thinking about how you might recruit them. Hmmmm, suspiciously like being a Jehovah's Witness. Yuck.

Tij, thanks. The lyrics are beautiful, and you're right, they're capturing my feelings perfectly. It just seems like things are never stable. But that's life I guess.
Boy, I hope this works out.

Oh boy that's what I was afraid of.
Ok well then this requires a new tactic. For one thing you need to know whether the MLM is legit or is completely a scam. Bear in mind that while all MLMs work off the same principle and fail for the same reasons, not all MLMs are the same.
First you want to check to see if there is any information at these sites:
http://www.mlmwatch.org/index.html
http://www.mlmsurvivor.com/index.htm
http://www.bbbonline.org/consumer/
also check your local state Attorney General, and State Secretary, State Dept of Consumer Affairs, County or City Dept of Consumer Affairs, online to see if there are any complaints. Google the name of the MLM with the keywords "fraud" or "scam" to find any negative info out there.
If you find a lot of info that indicates that the MLM is questionable you may be able to save your guy a lot of trouble, info that you can gently present to him. (it is a lot like trying to present negative info about the Organization to JWs)
One of the major problems wiht MLMs that you want to be aware of is that success is very much dependent upon your relationships and the size of your social network. My definition most MLMs are "relationship marketing" and so if you (or rather he) has a large social network, with a number of people that are willing to buy in, he might enjoy some limited success. However, since most people don't or can't get the kind of participation from others required to make the person successful, the recruitment activity tends to alienate a lot of your friends and family. You should me prepared for that and may have to mend fences later.
best wishes,
Eduardo
PS: I am curious to know which MLM this is. I have some experience with MLMs as I grew up in a household where my dad tried every MLM around at the time, including Amway and Herballife. I was recruited for two others not too long ago, including Future Horizons aka Liquidity International the latest project by a well-known MLM-huckster Marc Accetta, and World Group Financial, an asian based financial "consulting" scam and if you can believe it I actually tried ACN for a year.
