They've had it too good in some countries, they and other destructive cults as well.
Unfortunately not many followed the example of France which refuses to give them the status of a religion and instead describe them as a cult and correctly so as we all know. They went to the European court and lost on all accusations they brought against the French.
And much of the persecution was brought on unnecessarily as was the case in Malawi where just buying a party card (as the JWs were advised to do in Mexico) would have saved them all that trouble.

I have a hard time getting behind legislation that would ban JWs. It's my hope that education and lack of $ will be the religion's downfall.

I just want to see them lose their charity/tax-free status that they hold in various countries. Then it would get interesting.

deserve to be banned, imprisoned, expelled, taxed, and oppressed
Is that really how you'd like to treat Jehovahs Witnesses ?
If that's so, then how come so many find it difficult to leave, and spend years living double lives, or are actively trying to educate their loved ones ? Why don't they turn their backs on them, or even better, turn the keys to their cell doors ??
That's what JW's are made up of remember - OUR loved ones. And most of them are in it because they are misguided, deceived, hell, some of them are even stupid. So they should be imprisoned for being trusting, naiive, or blind ??? To persecute Jehovahs Witnesses is to persecute many of our families. Is that REALLY what you would like to do ??
There are many members that are sincere, just as in any religion. And there are those that are abusive, and use religion as a mask, just as in any religion. Why stop at Jehovahs Witnesses ? Wouldn't that be the 'icing on the cake' for them, prophetically speaking ? After the Wild beast has finished with Christendom and "they turn their attention to God's people, it would be like touching His eyes". Isn't that just one of the many beliefs?
I dislike what the witnesses have done to me and my family, and continue to do to all of yours and others too. But I can't exalt in language that incites others to hatred, even if it is against JW's.

Well I wouldnt want to see any JW receive any real persecution. I dont want to see anyone be hurt or attacked, HOWEVER, I would love to see the WT Society's tax exempt status revoked, I would love to see their financial records hauled in for a congressional hearing, I would love to see this corporation exposed for everyone to see her filthy deeds. I hope that someday down the road that whenever people hear the words "Jehovah's Witness" they will immediately think of molested children, children dying from lack of blood, etc etc etc. I hope that one day the majority of people will look upon the WT Society with disgust, instead of thinking they are a harmless religion.

Those in the WBTS, who are fully aware of the fallacious reasonings, perverted counsel and nefarious activity which they have utilized to promote their twisted dogma, should be held accountable. Crimes against humanity wouldn't be too harsh a charge against them, IMO. All one has to do is consider the depression, broken families, mental/physical abuse, suicides, etc. in order to come to that conclusion. Unfortunately, the WBTS has had over a hundred years to network into the establishment, and for that reason the impact of these problems remains relatively unknown to the general public. Did anyone notice that the UN/NGO affair was not revealed by the New York Times, Washington Post, Boston Globe, etc? Maybe someone on this side of the pond "put a lid on it". Would have been a great story for America's interpretive journalists, but for some strrraaaange reason the piranhas didn't get to feed on this one. Hmmmmm.

Are they cowards? Are they ashamed of this practise? Or are they just dishonest? If a loan company in the world did things like this, would the government object to their lack of ethical candor?
If you were about to have surgery without knowing ALL the possible risks and side effects, which is the responsibility of the physician to ensure that you are informed of, it is not possible to give informed consent.
I believe that sites like Quotes offers people the opportunity to become fully informed about JWs before they become deeply involved. It speaks to a despicable lack of ethics and confirms the blatant use of Theocratic War Strategy™ on potential recruits that the topic of disfellowshipping and disassociation is not part of the basic teaching that is done prior to baptism.
Indeed, this makes it painfully obvious that the WTS believes that Interested Persons™ are not "entitled" to truthful information about the belief system of Jehovah's Witnesses by the very fact that this information is withheld in their basic teaching publications.

Bull, there's been too much meek acceptance of their arrogant misrule - for too many years!
What would happen if the police were called out nearly every time there was a disfellowshipping - to break up another
'damn Jehova' Witness brawl'? How many elders would volunteer for judicial committees if they could be sued - or end up
with a cracked rib?
OK, let's walk away from the physical stuff - suppose they could be sued for fraud or alienation of affection? for money damages?
How long would this corrupt nonsense go on if their property was threatened? What was the essential contrast between
Mexico and Malawi? Property! Lives be damned!
There is a profound difference from being persecuted for a noble cause - such as opposing Hitler - and opposing human rights.
Even the corrupt Theocrats who run this organization may realize that - and that's likely why they are getting so cowardly
about their disfellowshipping practices, as shown by their reluctance to honestly inform the public, as I've pointed out.

Hi metatron:

about their disfellowshipping practices, as shown by their reluctance to honestly inform the public, as I've pointed out.
I didn't call into question your reasonings - I fully agree that there are some underhand practices going on in the name of God, and seemingly being unpunished. This injustice makes my blood boil, as much as anyone elses.
I do take issue with the overall tone of the introduction to this topic though - I mean, persecute ALL witnesses ? Isn't that going down the same lines of "one black person commits a crime, so all are criminals ? One muslim commits an act of torrorism, so all muslims are terrorists ?
I thought as a whole, we were opposed to judemental attitudes like that displayed by the WTBTS ??
Isn't that incitement to hatred based on religion ??

Isn't that incitement to hatred based on religion ??
Well, isn't that something the watchtower itself has practiced right from it's beginnings? And continues to this day when former members exerceise their constitutional right of freedom of religion?
