Another vote for Breathe Right strips here. One of either my wife or I snore, and the other demanded that I -- or rather, "the snoring party" -- go get those strips. Much better now. (Or so I'm told)

You may consider scheduling a sleep test for him. One of the symptoms of sleep apnea is snoring. Another is always feeling tired. It nearly killed me several times due to my airways collasping when I was sleeping. A CPAP machine is quiet and most insurance will pay for it.
I've been using a CPAP machine for about 5 years now because of my sleep apnea. It's eliminated the snoring and I sleep properly now. I tried the laser surgery before that - very painful and it didn't cure the apnea anyway. W
When I sleep, I snore like a locomotive! It's awful. I've woken myself up with my snores! I don't know how my honey stood being in the same room as me at night.
I finally got help about three years ago. One afternoon after waiting a really long time in the doctor's office, I fell asleep. My doctor treated me for why I was there, then told me that he wanted me to have a sleep study done. Even though I was in the exam room, with the door closed, he could hear me snoring, even though he was in his office down the hall. I had the study done and it was confirmed that I did have sleep apnea.
The doctor gave me a prescription for a CPAP machine which forces air into my airway at night so it doesn't close up (thus causing the snoring). I sleep great and best of all, I don't snore. If you think your significant other may have this problem, they should see their doctor for help. There are several people on the board that have a CPAP and we alllllll love our machines!
But its weird sometimes he gets into this whle snoring routine and then he just stops - like he isn't even breathing - then he starts gasping for air and goes back into his snoring routine. It worries me
It should worry you. During my study, they found that during the first two hours, my breathing stopped over a hundred times. When you can't get air, your body forces you to gasp for air. And, while you may still be asleep, you never actually get into the REM level of sleep. REM is where you get your true rest. If your bf is tired all the time and can fall asleep at the drop of a hat, it means that he is not getting enough rest when he sleeps. It might be a good idea for him to go to the doctor soon.
Hope this helps in some way.

Unbelievable, as soon as I crept into bed, he started snoring again !!!
Actually, I think he has got a problem he sometimes starts choaking, he wakes up coughing and spluttering.
Can you buy those machine privatly or do you need a prescription?
Hey vitty, sorry to HEAR that. I wouldnt be able to hang. Maybe you can tape him snoring and let him hear it. Buy some nose strips. They sell them at the pharmacy.
D.
I'm a dreadful snorer too - I have allergic rhinitis, and apparently some polyps (?) up there.... I'm on a course of treatment just so that they can get enough room up there to have a proper look !!
What's a CPAP machine - sounds interesting, and could save my wife and I many sleepless nights !!
Bull!
Has anyone here tried the sprays? I am having the same problem with my husband. It even keeps the cats awake, and they are sound sleepers. I am trying to get him to go to an ENT, but in the meantime, I checked out over-the-counter remedies. (This was just a few days ago so it is fresh in my mind.)
All except 1 were mostly glycerine with some flavorings added. I could buy a bottle of glycerine and a spray bottle and save myself a lot of $. The remaining 1 product was more like an aerosol spray, but it cost $14. Its contents had chemical names. If it works it would be worth the $ but I hated to buy it if it was just a fake snake oil remedy.
