I have a few such as; "For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing he is dececiving his own mind." Gal.6:10

What if: "For if anyone thinks he is nothing when he is something he is dececiving his own mind. What does it mean?

    John 4:19-26 — I thought the place/group was important, now I know.

1 Timothy 2:1-7 — I had my mediator stolen from my life before I was even old enough to know. I have my mediator back now.

1 John 2:26-29 — True anointed ones do not need any Governing Body, if they really have an anointing that is.

Romans 2:1, 2 — I am not above the judgment I use with others.

Galatians 1:6-9 — "New Light" is false light from false claimants to God's grace.

2 Corinthians 11:12-15 — "New Light" comes from the one who transforms himself into an angel (a messenger) of light, and those who bear this light serve him in ignorance.

2 Corinthians 4:1-6 — Those who are ignorant are to be pitied for their spiritual blindness, but not to the point of adulterating (diluting) the word of the Bible.

1Cor.4:6 ...learn the rule: "Do not go beyond the things that are written."

Would this qualify as the most-ignored scripture among JW's, particularly the leadership?

Considering that the amount of text in the "rule" books far exceeds the amount of text in the Bible, it seems it would be a given that they have 'gone beyond what is written' in sheer volume, not to even touch on actual content.

I'm not really sure I understand what you mean by "bible believers". I believe that the books exist. I believe there is inspiration to be had from certain texts. I don't believe it to be the word of any god any more than I believe the phone book to be.

That being said, I do actually have some favorite scriptures from the Christian bible. If anyone has a problem with me replying to this post, well too bad.

    From the New International Bible.

Luke 17:21 - "nor will people say, 'Here it is,' or 'There it is,' because the kingdom of God is within you."

Matthew 10:34 - "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword."

Galations 5:22-23 - " 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law." (I prefer the KJV... version in this case. "Temperence" means something slightly different than "self-control" as the other translation uses.)

AlmostAtheist, yes that's the scripture I threw at the org when they applied Paul's to King Agrippa at Acts 26:20; "...they should repent and turn to God by doing works that befit repentance." What did King Agrippa know about "works that befit repentance?" Do you find such a scripture given to the Christian congregation?

When you read the account of the young man have sex with his step-mother at 1 Cor.5, it was suggested that they remove the leaven from their midst. Note in 2 Cor 2 verse six that the rubuke given to this man was from the 'majority' of the group and not the Elders. Again the org did not reply to my pointing that out.

Yes, we should no go beyond what is written. What's so difficult in applying that scripture if your a Christian?

Acquitting the guilty and condemning the innocent—
    the LORD detests them both.

    Proverbs 17:15

a certain sense of irony no doubt when applying to the Jehooba-bahs

TopHat, I play professional sports. Some guys are very heady, make great brags about themselves but can't perfom. Some have a very negative attitude about themselves when they have the talent to accomplish feats. They put a ceiling on themselves and as such, don't go anywhere. The great Gordie Howe was told he would never make it in the NHL. Gordie believed in himself.

Thanks Golf. I have a better sports eye view of the scripture mentioned. "If you can't play ball then why brag that you can, and if you can play ball, just go out there and kick ass"
