I'M PROUD OF YOU! IT NEVER CEASES TO AMAZE ME HOW MANY WOMEN HAVE THE 'GUTTS' TO SPEAK UP ON SUCH OCCASIONS OR,.......... AS THE WATCHTOWER USED TO SAY, 'THE WOMEN TELLING THE GOOD NEW ARE A LARGE ARMY'!

    KUDO'S TO 'SISTERHOOD'!

The one I remember...he was very grand-father-y...his wife was sick most of the time, but he was a pretty nice, chubby man with an english accent. And he always remembered most of the names. The thing that I didn't like about him though...is that he used to ask a question, and ask random kids and teens for an answer without them ever raising there hands. Very traumatizing. A kind of dishonest way to make sure we listened. Remember one guy simply ansering "Uuuuh....I don't know". We all laughed, he obviously wasn't paying attention and very obviously didn't care.

Ya, but the really bad thing about it, is that I didn't have a head covering on when I addressed him. Think Jehovah will strike me dead at Armagettin for this?

We had the COs stay with us until the circuit got them an apartment. We were in a very humble congregation and nobody would volunteer to keep them. Thankfully, most of them were nice. There was only one that was on the arrogant side, but they treated us alright.

Mary, I would love to meet you someday! I love your sense of humour.

I'm sure you're mistaken. Circuit Overseers cannot accept cash because of their vow of poverty.

Speaking of arrogance. Has anyone here ever met that old Canadian lawyer? We were at a meeting where he was giving a talk once. After the meeting, an older sister, trying to show how thankful she was, said: "those were some good scriptures you brought out." He replied, "the bible's full of them" and kept on walking. The poor old dear was left practically speechless. I have to admit that I was torn between laughing and being offended.

I dont know whats wrong with you guys. But my CO's were all pretty cool. The last one was awesome. However, i never talked to him because i wanted to make sure everyone knew that i would not kiss his @$$. The one we have now is pretty cynical. He's the first CO i've seen that the elders VISIBLEY dont like.

Hey, Dune. What do you mean? I just said that most that I've known were nice. That being said, you'd have to have your head buried to not know that there are arrogant and rude C.O.s out there.

Sorry there cellist. I meant. I dont know whats wrong with YOUR CO's. I dont think there is anything wrong with you all (although i do question the mental stability of a few of you ).

Personally, i honestly havent met any arrogant CO's. Thats just the dead truth. All have been different in their own ways, but have been overall very interesting. However, i've met enough elders and elderettes to make up for that 20 times over. I guess i've been "Lucky".

For the most part, we had some real nice ones. We were in a small congregation and the CO and his wife would stay with us at our house for the week. I remember being a little kid and having these 'guests' stay with us. I used to feel so priviledged that we got to have them at our house (which was very humble, the couple would use a pull-out sofa-bed at first, till later we got a bed in there.)

I remember one couple in particular, they were very sweet -- they stayed with us when I was about 9 or so. The sister helped me fix blow-dry my hair before bedtime and the brother actually sat with my dad and played the guitar and sang with us. It's very Brady Bunch now thinking about it, but at the time, it was a real nice feeling cause they were extremely genuine and sincere. I remember them both saying that my mom was 'the typical mom' (a complement) -- cause she made them such yummy pancakes in the morning.

Another couple who stayed with us were also very nice. The CO would stop us as we would kiss our mom and dad goodnight -- and just when we thought 'oh no, what did we do?' ...he'd have this soft smile on his face and say 'what about me? don't I get one of those too?' As a little kid I looked up to them, like an aunt and uncle and I'll never forget those memories.

On the other hand, I did run across a few CO's later on (teens, early 20's) that were out for blood. My dad (the ex-elder then) and mom would talk about how mean he was. Yep, he was just a jerk. And his wife had the personality of a flea.
