    I just recently found out about this. Not all States have adopted the legislation, but all are expected to do so. You are right, in States that have this legislation on the books all JWs—as ordained ministers—are automatically mandatory reporters of suspected abuse (whether physical, emotional, or sexual) and can be sued in civil court/prosecuted for failure to report.

    I have sent out a memo to the local DA and several victim attorneys to make sure they are aware that all Jehovah's Witnesses are ordained ministers, and are therefore legally exposed if they know and keep silent.

    I have a question regarding this quotation: "In all cases of child abuse allegations, ALWAYS call the Legal Department, whether or not the accused denies the allegations."

    Q: In the ks91 "page 143" The instructions given were that when an Elder heard an accusation of child abuse, he should instruct the accuser/victim/family not to talk to anyone else about the matter until he gets back to them and the he should contact the Legal Dept of the society FIRST before talking to ANYONE else. SO is this still their procedure? Seems like to quote from the school has the elder confronting the accused before contacting the Society?
    Has the instructions that elders hand write on page 143 changed? And [sorry] has the ks been updated or are there new references that you had to write in?

    A pioneer sister was leading a double life. She had a relationship with a worldly man, ws engaging in fornication with him over the course of a year. She was discovered and disfellowshipped. But she was reinstated after only 3 months. Thinfs like that could give the congregation the idea that 'I can do what I like, serve my time, and be reinstated quickly'



    first of all how do they know she was leading a double life..she may well have been agonizing over the relationship but heart emotions were ruling her...i notice the pioneers age wasnt given...maybe she was one of those that was waiting for armageddon till she got married because it is so close!! and was caught unawares when a worldly man showed an interest in her and attended her emotional needs as opposed to just her sexual ones...king david kidnapped raped covered up lied and murdered and still didnt confess until he was caught....and yet at no time was he accused of leading a double life..3 months isolation thru disfellowshipping is plenty of time for someone to 'come to their senses' and seeing as this is exactly what df-ing is supposed to do then exactly what is the problem...and so what if others in the hall get the idea that they can do what they like serve their time and get reinstated....surely the holy spirit is directing the elders to reinstate repentant ones and keep out unrepentant...

    interesting that the assumption is made that anyone behaving in this way must be an unrepentant wanton wicked willful wrongdoer....but if anyone knows the whole truth about how dangerous it is to let untrained unqualified men make those kind of decisions..it must be god..ok and me...so why is he not directing 'his' organization to make the nessercary changes..

    sir82...your review was much appreciated...can i ask if there were actual demonstrations of judicial commitees...at all the elders schools,meetings co visits assembly days and circuit assemblies i attended...i can not recall ever seeing a j.c demonstrated

    If only the meetings provided spiritual food like potatoes.... but I don't know anyone "normal" who is in the habit of swallowing $h!t like what is dispensed at the KH, day after freaking day.

    But conceptually, where does this whole "being well spiritually fed" idea come from? From the beattitudes about those "hungry for the spirit", or those "begging the spirit"?

    Perhaps they didn't read the second part.. "they will be filled". Aparently, JWs are never "full".. maybe thats a bad thing :)
