How do you know Satan didn't write the Bible?

My husband and I seen a show somewhat along that line of reasoning...It was about how Satan is the one who REALLY loves us and God is the one who doesn't!

I thought the movie was The Prophecy - Forsaken But I don't think it was. I can't remember what one it was!

It's something that's crossed my mind. At what point do you trust anything? Do you go with your gut or an internal resonance?

The reason it crossed my mind was in connection with the references to the Son of Man being raised aloft as was the serpent in the wilderness (John.3:14). An interesting piece of symbology, when you look at all the other connotations of serpents, in scripture.

Further, Psalm 109 is an interesting array of curses, especially the reference to Satan in verse six.

More food for thought, for ya

We know it was written by God because the RC Church selected which books would be regarded as holy some years (hundreds of years?) after they were written. Most of the books previously thought to be holy were discarded and rejected at that time. The newly designated holy books were then safeguarded in the Vatican library. Then the WTS hired a spirit medium to help create the New World Translation from the remaining books, rejecting only one or two books accepted by the RCs and pretty much keeping the RC Bible intact in the NWT. That is how JWs can be sure their Bible is not written by Satan.

What could Satan possibly gain by writing the Bible as we know it? I perceive Satan as a dark regressive infantile power, infernal, instinct driven, and profoundly contra spiritual whereas the whole message of the gospel aims at elevating man through a spiritual culture, and man's welbeing can't go wrong with that.

And why should he enjoy the idea of himself being tormented in the lake of fire and sulphur for ever more?

Why would such a being be afraid of such a thing?

Well, of course, things don't actually have to work out like the Bible says. I'm suggesting that the *real* author of the Bible is not like either the God or Satan depicted in it, except that he is deceptive (inasmuch as he wrote a fake book to trick people). The stories in the Bible wouldn't have to have any real bearing on reality, but he would try to make them match up with some actual historical events so that later humans would be even further deceived.

    IT Support,
Thanks! Yes, I'm in Japan until the end of the year. Woo hoo!
    AuldSoul,
I guess the real point in all of this is, if you believe in a world where magic is real, then it's really impossible to believe anything, because no matter what you *think* is true, there's a possibility that the gremlins/gods/devils/spirits are actually just making it *appear* that way.

If you broaden the perspective beyond religion, that's exactly the point of Descartes' "evil genius" doubt...
