Yes, I am ashamed to say I ratted somebody out for smoking. I'm not sure I would have on my own, but I was with my wife and one of my best jw friends at a pool hall and saw an inactive friend of mine smoking. I tried to forget about it, but the next meeting my friend came to me because he had told the elders "we" needed to talk to them. He said, "Are you coming with me? It's his fault for smoking, I'm not going to let it be my problem." so I went with him, and the guy got df'd for smoking. I have felt bad about it ever since.

I can honestly say, NO, I never ratted on anyone. I had plenty of opportunities to do so, but I just could not do it. Maybe deep down, i knew that the teens were just trying to live as normal a life as they could, being raised in the borg.....I dunno. I was also a teen, trying to fit in.....plus, it's never been my nature to follow the "rules" of the society. -

However, someone did fink on me and it ended up to me getting DF'd when I was a teen.

Turned in my only true friend who confided in me with regard to a sexual encounter he'd had. When he found out it was me who ratted him out, and especially when he didn't get clipped for it, our relationship was never the same after that. He never really had any respect for me afterward, and I felt like a piece of $#!+.

I never gave up any information on anyone I know. Read my latest regarding my current situation with the elders, and how I won't budge.
Now, there are a few young JWs in my area who seem to be overwhelmed with the kind of love that makes you tell on people. So, I find info on them, and just store it. Nothing like a little collatteral. I might drop a few bombs when I leave the cong.
But I never tell on JWs.
But they sure do love tellin on me.

When I was a naive dub I ratted out an elderly brother because whenever we went into a home while on fs he would ask for a cigarette from the owner. He would light it up and let it burn without smoking it.
Whatever that meant I thought it was weird and informed the elders about it. Later I realised he was doing to piss off the elders whom he didn't like.
