    Ello JayHawk,

Soccer sucks. And quit calling it football. Real football is the can be found here.

Well, it is called football because you play the ball with your feet.
Running round with a ball in your hands all the time, is called handball, it's all quite simple.

    Hello Englishman,

    You said:

He comes across as a bit nerdy, however he married Posh Spice - Victoria - and loves his little 'un by her.

And those two have managed to call that poor child "BROOKLYN". Talk about giving a child a bad start.

    Norm,

I understand that the Beckhams decided to name their son after the place in which he was conceived, in this case, Brooklyn.

Based on that premise, I have just re-named my sons as:

    Holiday Inn

    Bike Shed

    Front room carpet.

How come no-one picked up on Richards post?

    He said:

"The United States has, for almost 300 years, been able to keep drunken British soccer hooligans from swarming our shores".

Can anyone see a tiny error or two here?

sort of. it's more like 200 years isn't it? the ol' 1776 maxim would apply here.
don't know about el tel's skills in the footie department but he used to run a damn good club in kensington where he was an excellent host at one time.

OK Ok I'll take up the challenge Eman.

I believe that any parent can safely take their children to a British soccer game. There is a family-type atmosphere prevailing and the kids will have fun.

OK, now I'm ready to be shot!

I believe what I wrote and remind our dear community members of the power of the Press. Remember this: just because you read it in the press or see it on the sound bites of the evening's TV news does not mean it is true. The more sensational aspects of British soccer are the hooliganism. We all know how the media can magnify events. So has the US kept out drunken soccer hooligans? Probably, but are they so significant?

Here in Oz the greatest game of all, i.e. soccer, has failed to become the major code. It's been beset with corruption and nationalism (not of the Aust. kind but of the ethnic origins kind). The other 'codes' of football have been too well-established. Nonetheless, an attendance of around 100,000 recently attended an Australian international fixture in Melbourne.

My guess is that the USA situation is somewhat similar to the Oz situation.

    Cheers,
    Ozzie

    Hullo again Englishman,

    "Holiday Inn

    Bike Shed

    Front room carpet"

Goes to show what a silly idea that is eh? Of course if you use the latin words for those above it would probably look like quite impressive names.

    Norm.
