I hug my dog but kissing it would go too far because of the germs that they carry. I also make sure that he is flea free because fleas can also be a problem if you hug them.

I love, hug and kiss my two dogs (bitches) but I don't let them lick my lips. They sleep on my younger son's bed. They are an integral part of our family; extremely loving and loyal. I wouldn't be without them. They teach me so much every day.

ok - confession time (this I am sure will gross out you non-animal lovers)

I use to have miniture donkeys - I even hugged them and kissed them on thier little

soft noses. They were so sweet I miss them a lot.

How coud you not hug and kiss faces like these!

Our dogs are the closest thing we have to kids! They are so well behaved and loyal, what's not to love?!

I think hugging pets is natural. But I would be very wary of kissing them especially cats. My SIL caught something off the family cat when she was in her teens which made her very ill. She had temporary blindness as well. (I'll see if I can find out what the disease is called...) ***Edited to add - the name of the disease is Toxoplasmosis

Good Grief, John. Do you ever have anything fun to say?? Grumpy-pants. Cheer up!!

On the subject of kitties, here's mine... A little dumb, but very sweet...

Wow..it is nice to know that I am not the only one who smooches my pets. Before I had animals, I used to think it was weird for people to kiss them. I even thought it was gross and nasty. Things changed for me when I saw those sweet things being born and falling instantly in love. They really do become part of the family. I guess you would have to be an animal lover to understand.

They teach me so much every day. Ian

Funny you would say that Ian, because I don't even like dogs, at least not this one, but when she looks at me, with that, " I know you don't like me, but could I suffer your friendship anyway ? " look, and I can't help but reduce myself from my feelings.

She's a good house dog and only needs a good envioronment to be able to be a great dog. She loyal, despite the fact that she knows I'm not genuinely fond of her, and she sort of breaks me down, brick by brick towards helping me to become a better human.

I truly look towards getting closer to her. There was a time when dogs were an issue here as one of them we had, became pregnant with puppies. It wasn't much for me to straddle them up and ship them off to the pound and let life have its way with them, this one I could never do because she has truly come to be, one of the family. I shudder at the thought of anything happening to her. And I don't even like her. What is wrong with me?
