God does exist here is my nonbiblical reason:

I mean why would I hallucinate a superior being telling me to stop doing drugs?

Self preservation is a powerful instinct. You already had a notion of God. You had been telling other kids that was your Dad.

As rebel8 and Cofty said, hallucinations are a terribly way to decide what's true.

Grreat Teacher: thank you !! I know I decided to do research on the JW witness religion and I am probably not going to continue my studies! Thank you for your words and for caring !! You are right they are definitely love bombing. I do not use drugs anymore that was years ago, I just live with an empty feeling. I will probably be getting therapy soon though! I am currently in college :) just in case you'd like to know. My life is going pretty good now. The only problem I have is choosing to be in relationships with unloving people. Lol I guess I'm just re-living my past there.

On the way out : Yeah, I only felt the presence once and never again did I again. He never lead me to any religion though all he did was to tell me to stop doing drugs. I am 23 right now just recently I started studying with the JWs. But I have been reading posts on here and I am not getting baptized! I believe that there is no real religion. I just believe in a superior being. And I never heard a voice lol. It was energy I could feel and understand. It's really hard to explain lol. And I think if there is a God he would be pretty much energy....

    Xoxo to both :)

It's impossible to grow up in a community with xians and not have any idea what xians believe, unless you grew up in a cave without human contact.

You wanted to hallucinate and you did. Hallucinations don't "mean" anything.

jws will tell you this--Jehovah does not speak to any humans in modern times, he does not send anyone messages, and he certainly does not bless people with special knowledge when high (which they believe is a sin and defilement of the body, offensive to God).

It does sound like you've already decided to believe whatever you want. By posting this story here, are you hoping to convince us?

Viviane: I understand you and rebel8 and cofty. I had a notion of God, but just that he was God. I wasn't high anymore though when he spoke to me in the "energy language" lol. I was getting up to do it again when it happened . I completely understand you though ...that's what I thought too. Well that's what I was convincing myself to think but it was just too out of this world

Rebel8 I wanted to share my experience. And I also wanted to read your opinions and thoughts. I respect all of them. And yes sometimes I do think I was just hallucinating. I guess no one is really 100% sure of the existence of God or the non existence of him :/

JW's do not follow the bible. The bible shows you can have a personal relationship with God and Christ. Jw's teach that God doesn't really do anything direct or works with people individually. This teaching started after the original JW leader died, Rutherford took over claiming Christ returned and the holy spirit was no longer needed that Christ was ruling directly and using angels and others who had died to run the show. When Rutherford died, they slowly brought back holy spirit, but to keep full control of the JW's they keep teaching nobody can get holy spirit or understand the bible, ect, except through them.

You don't need to be high to have a hallucination.

    What is more likely, that...

... a person using drugs to induce hallucinations had a hallucination, something that is common and possible without drugs , while in a depressed emotional state bordering on suicidal or....

... that an invisible, undetectable spirit you already believed in and worshipped by the culture you grew up in and claimed association with used an energy language to convince you not to use drugs and then never talked to you again?

Curious Kitten, I am so glad to hear that you are in college. Excelling academically makes you feel good about yourself and it seems like you need a good dose of that.

I hope you do take up the idea of therapy. It's been helpful to me personally. Sometimes you just need a fresh, logical perspective on your experiences and your behavior to break through to a healthier pattern of living. I know it's hard to change who you have relationships with, but just add one good, genuine, caring person to your life at a time. Eventually they will outnumber the unhealthy ones!

Best of luck to you! I can tell you are going places!
