Regardless of what you think right now, please seek professional non-JW counsel. You've had a rough time and Jehovah's Witnesses swooped in and took advantage of you in a confused state. (No, not California)

And I think if there is a God he would be pretty much energy....

You have a conception, your "vision" was of your conception. You are already doubting that.

And yes sometimes I do think I was just hallucinating. I guess no one is really 100% sure of the existence of God or the non existence of him

I am sure 100% of the non existence of the God of Jehovah's Witnesses. Promoting the shunning of people who got baptized before they were 12 for doing normal things a bit later in life. Telling friends and family to treat them as dead right when they need help and understanding the most.

And I will share some more with you about the doubting and how that becomes a problem. When I, two decades later, realized fully that God did not intervene in my suicide attempt, I seemed to return to a state similar to the one I was in right before the suicide. "God" stopping me showed me that I had value to the creator of the universe. Finding out that it was just me "chickening out" suggested to me that I was a failure twenty years ago and I even failed at killing myself and a loser like me joined a dangerous mind-control cult.

Don't worry, folks. I dealt with it all. I am just saying what I felt before I dealt with it to help our "Kitten" here to know that such a thing isn't true. In reality, I prevented my own suicide. I decided that I was worth enough to keep living. Kitten stopped doing drugs on his/her own, regardless of what started it- be it a drug induced hallucination or a visit from Satan. Kitten won a victory in staying clean another day, probably most days since then and will win another victory tomorrow by staying clean. Kitten figured out that something is wrong with Jehovah's Witnesses and found this website, and will go on to figure out what to do about that.

If there is a creator/god, giving non-biblical reasons? my oh my, try: 2 years ago, Prologos: "Are there non-biblical messages from the creator?" and discovered in my (yesterday's) 14/02/2014 (Rohrschacht) doodling: human life span and Yearly difference of orbit periods: "~82" ~ Earth I year to Uranus 84 year "year", to Neptune 165 year "year", to Pluto 264 year "year". Art of numerology in cosmology. Late note:-- from BBC article on CERN -doubled energy startup : 4st last paragraph: on dark energy:" will perhaps open door to what is on the other side", perhaps referring to the theory that "dark energy" is a property of the pre-beginning 'void'.

Kitten, I grew up very much like you. I also had a strong connection to God and not a religion. I was searching for a family and th witnesses found me. 30 years later not only have I lost my family, but my connection to God as well. If that connection is important to you then be very wary when dealing with the JWs. Their teachings will gradually steal that from you. Along with the opportunity to do anything meaningful with your life. You will always live on the fringes of society and most likely have a hard life just like your mom. You will be discouraged if not forbidden to continue your education, and if you are a woman, forced into submission bordering on subservience if you ever marry. Please do your research before continuing. I know that you have, but if you try ending the study, be prepared to present your decision in no uncertain terms. Be prepared too for none of the "friends" that you have made to continue to be part of your life. Just remember we are here for you.

Using hallucinogens and then hallucinating, even if you believed you were no longer high at the time, is not remarkable.

Occam's razor is a good method to find the truth.

If you still believe God is the most reasonable explanation for your hallucination, after considering all we've posted, then it will be apparent you have already decided what you want to believe. *shrug*

    And your Logical Fallacy is:

    Anecdotal.

Relying on memories or imagination when judging the probability of events may have worked well for our ancestors, but in the modern world we are exposed to vivid vicarious experiences.

    From the web;
The expression anecdotal evidence refers to evidence from anecdotes. Because of the small sample, there is a larger chance that it may be unreliable due to cherry-picked or otherwise non-representative samples of typical cases. Anecdotal evidence is considered dubious support of a generalized claim; it is, however, perfectly acceptable for claims regarding a particular instance. Anecdotal evidence is no more than a type description (i.e., short narrative), and is often confused in discussions with its weight, or other considerations, as to the purpose(s) for which it is used. This is true regardless of the veracity of individual claims.

Turns out that your "reason" for the existence of a deity, is not reason at all.

It is easy to get the impression that everyone here is atheist but its not so.

People of all lines of thinking are here.

One suggestion would be to just read the Bible yourself on its own without a religion trying to tell you what it is saying.

    best to you, curious kitten!

Many of us do not believe in god simply because there is no evidence for her existence.

The bible is a shambles of contradictions, Iron Age morality and unscientific nonsense.

The reality of human and animal suffering makes a loving god unlikely.

Keep reading and learning. Your beliefs will eventually take care of themselves if you keep acquiring information. A healthy skepticism is your friend.

If you want to listen to some well-informed atheists discuss their views have a look on YouTube for names like Sam Harris, Christopher Hitchens, Dan Dennett, Dan Barker, Michael Shermer.

I had a similar experience. When I was 23 I experienced a supernatural move of God in my life. I had been praying a lot asking God to make me hate sin. According to the Watchtower, sin is rooted in our will power, not our very nature as the bible states. So, as a consequence I thought I was simply weak.

Anyway, God answered my prayer and I was changed in many ways almost overnight. Since the JW's was all I knew, I became active for the next 8 years. I knew that something had happened to me, but I couldn't exactly describe what. I now know that I experienced an action of the HOLY SPIRIT.

John 16:8 (KJV) And when he is come , he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

I remember a teenager weeping for his sin in the men's room right before we were all going to get baptized. God is more than willing to reveal sin in anyone's life irregardless of what church they go to if they ask for it enough.

However, there is a BIG difference between simply being aware and sorry for sin and actually being pardoned for it and living a life of victory.

The Watchtower has on rare occasions acknowledged the unsaved condition of their members before God.

    Whom To Believe?

    1. Watchtower Says:

The ...“other sheep”, [non 144,000] are in a different condition. …They are still human

    creatures, not even justified, - Wt. 38 p.104, 105

    · Bible Says:

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:... Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. - Rom. 5:1, 9 (KJV)

    2. Watchtower Says:

“he is not yet giving the ‘other sheep’ the standing of sons….

they address him prospectively as ‘Our Father’.” Wt. 8/15/45 p. 253

    · Bible Says:

You are all, in fact, sons of God through YOUR faith in Christ Jesus. - Gal. 3: 26-28 (NWT)

    3. Watchtower Says:

…in a “strict Biblical sense Jesus is the ‘mediator’ only for anointed

    Christians.” [The 144,000] - Wt.4/1/79 p. 31

“Christ does not act as Mediator of the new covenant toward them,.” - Wt. 2/15/91 pgs. 15-20 par.11

    · Bible Says

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, a man, Christ Jesus - 1 Tim. 2: 5 (NWT)

Many, JW’s have left the Watchtower organization just by learning that officially according to the Watchtower, Jesus is not their Mediator. Again, the Watchtower has no biblical, New Testament answer for how the rest of mankind gets their sins forgiven.

    Great White Throne Judgment

While the bible teaches that all men are judged after they die (Heb. 9:27); they are not all judged for the same purpose. This was one of the most fascinating things I learned about as a new born again believer. The Great White Throne judgment of Rev. 20:11 thru 21:8, says that “all liars” are cast into the Lake of Fire. No one who ends up at this judgment gets a pass since all have lied. This is the Judgment that Christ’s blood saves us from.

The reason why we need a personal Savior, is because God intends to implement a personal judgment.

Judgment Seat of Christ (The Bema Seat - Romans 14:10 & 2 Cor. 5: 10)

This is the believer’s judgment, reserved for those with faith in Christ Alone:

If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. - 1 Cor. 3:15

At this judgment, salvation is not the issue. Things that were done FOR CHRIST are rewarded (or not rewarded), as opposed to the GWT judgment where those not found in the Book of LIFE perish. At the believer’s judgment, even if all your works are found to be not useful to God, you yourself “shall be saved”.

For the New Covenant member, with Jesus as their Mediator, the Salvation issue was settled up on Calvary Hill when Christ brought to nothing both the power and the penalty of sin for “whosoever” that would accept his offer. When he made that payment on our behalf, He cried out, “It is finished”! Praise God.

It seems that this post by curious kitten has us all trying to win her to our own sides.

It makes me sad that the witnesses have ruined 'God' for so many people and they become atheist. Not that their outlook isn't also swayed by other religious fanatics, or a fundamentalist view of the bible vs. science, or religious hypocrisy, or simply a skeptical nature and strong desire for reason over faith. But ex witnesses become atheist more often than many who have changed their religion. I think part of this is they were brought up to view other religions as satanic, so the option that any other direction would be ok was closed off to them from the start, so it was either witnesses or nothing, and most here chose nothing. Also, many are angry at God because of witness doctrine of what kind of God he is. Better to be an atheist than to believe that kind of God is real.

I don't want to start an argument, or oversimplify why many here are atheist. Most of you are obviously extremely intelligent and didnt come to this decision after simple thoughts, but a lot of reading and study.

I believe faith is a precious thing, I don't believe one person without faith should to try to influence another person to lose their faith. i also don't believe those of us who have faith really can or should try to influence those of you without faith unless you want faith.

i hope I haven't offended anyone too much.

curious kitten, don't be easily swayed either way. One thing is sure...the witnesses arent the way to go. We can all (mostly) agree on that!
