I cant remember hearing that expression before I came in the "truth". I dont recall hearing it from normal ppl . Except when they are talking about a street wise person.

Its really not the word but its the absolute insulting way its said. It reminds of a scripture where a jew is praying and saying how grateful he is that hes not like the scum of the world. Funny how they always miss the point.

To be totally freethinking, to be totally free of external punishment, and to still be a morally upright person....that is a true test of morality.

I don't need a group of elders or a possibly nonexistent man in the sky to threaten me with punishment in order to "behave". I don't need constant reminders in the literature and from the pulpit telling me punishment will happen if I'm bad. I don't need to see others be publicly scolded and shunned either. I am not about to "misbehave" spontaneously the moment mommy isn't watching. Those are all signs of immaturity.

I "behave" because I want to, because I have given deep thought to all my options and have determined my own course of action without coercion.

Coming from someone who was regarded as being "worldly" even though I wasn't I would say the difference between a worldly person and a dub is a personality. I wasn't a wet stepford type in a suit and tie, i was ME

Side tracking a little, if ever i needed to see an Elder I always preferred to take my problems to an elder that had come out of the world, someone that had retained a few of those rough edges as opposed to a dub that had been grown in some cloning tank.

Anyone else have a preference like that?

    (Apologies to the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th gen dubs out there )

None taken I STROVE to have an independent personality, which is really noexistent in dubland. All that comes to mind right now is that movie "The Village". When I saw that movie, I knew that I had to dissapear. All I had to do is look around me and see the difference. Also when my dad said "Well.. we just CAN'T blow off steam like "worldly people" though, son." Ya know... you gotta wonder why.

mental health of the individuals, capacity for independent thought, freedom in every aspect of life. The list would be too long.

The JWs have the look of the oppressed who can not control their own lives and destinies and can't even have freedonm of speech. They are like robots.

Min... In your question....lies the PROBLEM!

"Worldly" is a JWism that is totally misapplied. It DOES NOT differentiate between a "believer" and a "non-believer"...but rather deals with QUALITIES the ANY person can display.

Anyone can act "worldly"...especially the Dubs! And that's according to both their own and their Bible's definitions.

Perhaps a better question would be...What's better a good "pagan" or a "bad" christian"?
