    heathen,

i know what it is to want to believe. as cynical, and skeptical as i am of your's and others experiences with the supernatural, i still do want to believe. why you may ask? (or perhaps you're not asking that, but i doesn't matter, i am going to give you an answer anyways): because if ghosts, or spirits as you call them, actually exist, then that means that there is more to the universe than i am aware of. and if there is more to it than i am aware of, then my life would change, because my life would not longer be totally devoid of external meaning. which would be like a drug for me.

so, it's not that i don't want these spirits to exist. i do. it's just that honestly, the most logical and economic explanation is the one that John Doe already gave. these spirits could have a lot more power of humans and the world if they made it obvious that they exist. but they never do. they seem to concentrate on the credulous, and never the skeptical. that says a lot right there.

you said you believe in evil spirits? define evil for me please.

John Doe--- I gave you a chance to state credentials but instead you continue to insult , you don't have credentials to call anybody loopy . I suggest you go harrass other posters with your blind arrogance , because I aint playing your asinine bit .

tetrapod--- I define evil as in what the bible states with the evil spirits mingling with men and trying to control or manipulate from behind the scenes . There's nothing wrong with being a skeptic but there is no reason to accuse people of being out of their mind either over the issue . People claim to see flying saucers and aliens all the time but they are taken more seriously than people that have paranormal experience for some reason even when there is never any physical evidence . This thread was about paranormal experiences not about people looking to be diagnosed over it .

this is my last post on the subject unless somebody actually discusses the topic

Ive never seen one, but I dont care what anyone says, they do exist! The home that I bought here was haunted. They or it, never did anything bad, but sure scared the crap out of me and my kids. If it had just been me, I would wonder. They are little pranksters, like to move things, turn on toys that make noise. Fool with the ac! Make stranges noises. My daughter and I both heard them, it was almost like the sound of gremlins. You never saw us both run so fast in our life. Cold breezes in the basement (in a corner where the desk was) with no vent. And the breeze actually moved your hair. My eight year old saw someone looking at him in the mirror, he thought it was my daughter, but she wasnt home! Weird lights flashing in the closets, just weird things like that. I use to be home alone, sitting in the basement, and cant even recall how many times the kids toys would go off all by themselves. Needless to say, I didnt stay down there.

    freedom96 --- I did pm you .

Hi buttlight --- Yah I know they are noisy and move things , turn lights on and off and such . One time I was watching TV and a plaque flew off the wall and then I saw what looked like a green blob ,at first I thought it a frog or a large lizzard of some kind creeping accross the floor in front of me . I got up and on all fours got within a couple of inches of it to inspect and it kept moving then hit the other wall and disappeared , just vanished in front of my eyes . Just like some of the full body spooks I've seen they will appear out of one wall , give the appearance of walking right through the entire house and out the opposite wall . pretty strange stuff . Thanks for staying on topic and not hijacking the thread.

Interestingly, you're the first person to ever use those adjectives towards me. You never asked for my credentials, instead you chose to insult with irrelevant nonsense when I was legitimately discussing the topic--otherwise known as poisoning the well. You obviously only discuss things with persons who agree with you. Interesting. A study to show the prevalence of this attitude in “believers” would be a worthwhile study. You’re quite interesting.

I would love to further discuss your experiences, but alas, you’ve made your last post on this thread. Tsk tsk tsk. It’s a shame when a person can’t be open enough to debate a subject seriously.

My experience was in the home I grew up in.

These circumstances were never discussed until we were adults, and my mom questioned both my sister and myself, and we described in detail the exact same experiences in the house, though we never talked about it with each other.

The ghost in our home never hurt us, never tried to do anything to scare us. All of us saw the following:

It would go through walls, it looked like someone in the late 1800s would dress, a man, with a large Abe Lincoln type hat. Saw it downstairs as well as upstairs. (House was an old victorian, built in the late 1880's) We would hear it walking around upstairs, as well as going up the stairs to the front porch.

It stood by my moms bed one night, and she woke up and saw it stand there for about 30 seconds before she screamed and it fled.

The day she moved out of the house, she stood in the living room, and heard it wailing from her bedroom. The dog heard it too, and they have never been back since.

Not imagined, real. Can't tell me it was all in my head when my family and I all experienced it, and never discussed it together until later in life but all described the exact same thing.

For me, it answers the question if there is more to life than we know. The answer is yes. I don't claim to have all the answers, but I know what my family and I experienced, and it wasn't from the world as we know it.

Freedom, did these ghosts talk to you? Why would none you discuss such a circumstance until you were adults? That's unreasonable.

Not to mention, you're all three describing experiences from your past. Time has a way of changing memories, and people have a way of interpreting what they want to hear. Sure, you could have all had some experiences. Remember, they used to use lead in dishes and water pipes and paint quite extensively, not to mention asbestos in the floors. ;-) Seriously though, your statement is not very convincing.

well, then i honestly don't think we have much else to talk about either.

John Doe--- Nobody wants to hear your half baked annalysis . You don't believe, that's fine with me but don't try to exsplain something you don't understand by using your opinion .

freedom96--- I'd say you did indeed experience what countless many have on our planet including myself , a paranormal event. It happens all the time somewhere . I just don't like the explanations that people give for it that can't be proven either way .
