Their building their own compound, complete with bomb shelters, somewhere in Siberia?

I can not imagine them flopping on the policies of disfellowshipment. It is their most needed policy, as I see it.

I can see them flopping on the policies of "no blood" though.

What gives me great joy is posters like blondie, gary and mary here, basically nailing the WT so eloquently.

With the powerful tool the internet, we will ALWAYS be steps ahead of their deception, corruption and flip flops.

The snowball of info, and the momentum it is rapidly gaining, will illuminate the world.

Jeff, you wrote: "Make reinstatement easier?"Yes! That's my guess based on the current article posted and the recent three part Hosea study. Easier . . . . or maybe necessary at all . . . .
When God disfellowshipped the Watch Tower Society in 1918, he reinstated them in 1919 without any punishment period. As soon as they applied for reinstatement (by their actions, not by letter), he granted it to them according to their prolific writings on the topic.

I think this was a talk at the District Convention.

Yes, I distinctly recall hearing this talk in the Saturday Evening session in the 2004 Walk With God district convention. It was given at 4:15PM, lasted 20 minutes and was called "Walking in the Path of Increasing Light". I'll see if I can post my audio recording of the talk later tonight after work.

There's precedent both in the Bible and in the organization's history for a person (or printing corporation) being an outcast from the church or from the family. But there's no rational precedent for a punishment period that extends for months or years beyond repentance. There was no punishment period enforced by the family at all for the prodigal son.
There was no punishment period for the organization for it's sins. The organization isn't willing to extend to their members the consideration God extended to them according to their own teachings. Maybe they are finally willing to change this.

In the w00 3/15 pp 10-15, article "O God, Send Out Your Light"...this article discussed "progressive light"...what happened in 2000?

GB no longer served as Directors, and 3 new corporations formed.

As others have mentioned there will probably be changes coming.

You have to admit the genius of their strategy, however. They know how to control their future by controlling their history. The drones wont question things if the corporation keeps up this constant and successful use of historical revisionism, so far it seems to be working. How many dubs today have any idea as to the whacked out ideas of CT Russell or Rutherford? Its all swept under the rug.

As for disfellowshipping, I agree. They wont abandon this, its their ultimate control device. However, they may have no choice but to soften up the reinstatement procedure. They are bleeding members in the USA, Canada and Europe and cant really depend on the third world to sustain them financially in the long term.

    And so you should.

Excellent point. However, I remember someone asking about this at a bookstudy once years ago and the elder, flustered to be presented with a question he had no logical argument for stated that if the father had come across his son while his son was living a life of debauchery, he 'most likely would not have spoken to him and let's move on to the next paragraph.'

There was no punishment period for the organization for it's sins. The organization isn't willing to extend to their members the consideration God extended to them according to their own teachings.

Don't they say that this time frame applied when they were in prison in 1918 or some such crap?

Maybe they are finally willing to change this.
It would certainly be a step in the right direction, but I would be shocked if they changed it. Forbidding JWs to converse with those who have left is the last strong hand the GB has to play. I can't see them folding.........but it would be nice.

I've noticed that the Witnesses prefer to do things by the low road. If they have two choices, one honest and ethical, and the other sneaky and barely legal, they seem to prefer the barely legal. That's what they are doing to avoid paying tax on sold items. They disrupted their whole cash flow just to save a little work. They could just have every congregation get a sales tax license and just keep a file of a current sales tax exemption certificates like every other wholesale distribution company in the country.

They took the low road in Mexico in order to own real estate there. They lie when it would be more beneficial to tell the truth like with the United Nations issue. They misrepresent medical facts in printed material. These are all examples of low road preference.

All their problems today that they are spending so much time dealing with, they have created themselves. They struggle so much because they are doing so many things wrong at once. I wonder if there enough pragmatists in power at Patterson now to start repairing some of the things that are broken. We'll see.

Gary, this is the most precise and pithy distillation of what is the essential wrong in Jehovahdom!

I'm going to print this out and recite it every morning as I face Brooklyn on my prayer rug.

    Thank you.
