I looked at the site and figured, since I can't see it, I don't want to make too much of a judgement over it.
What did concern me is that under the characters thumbnail, you see that he interviewed 3 people, 2 active witnsses and one raised. I wrote two letters. One to PBS ombudsman and one to our local station.
In gist what I said was...
That it is great to show how the jw's have benefitted society and what not, but if pbs airs this, I feel that they have a journalistic responsibility to show both sides of the argument. Not just the pro.
Freedom of speech is a marvelous thing, I don't want this show to Not be aired, I just want both sides told.

I think this could be egg in their face. If those who watch the program want more info, they will go straight to the internet and Google 'Jehovah's Witnesses'. This forum will be busier with inquiries.
It appears that Mr. Engardio is capable of producing an unbiased report on some aspect JW-life. He simply may choose not to reveal his hand too early in the 'game' . How else to secure the trust and cooperation of potentially hostile suspicious participants?Just food for thought. - V.

One thing that I have learned over the years since I left the dubs is that most people know virtually nothing about the dubs and could not care less about their religion. The main audience for this film will be dubs just as the main audience for the Marley Cole book was dubs. Dubs will get all excited and blather back and forth to each other about what a wonderful witness this film will give. Or on the other hand if anything remotely critical is included, the dubs will get all excited and blather back and forth to each other that this is all the work of the evil "apostates." Face it, given the current state of dub theology, there is no way this film will be able to make these people look normal.
Let's call a spade "a spade." Knocking is a pro-JW piece and any research into production will prove it.
It is important that PBS and other media outlets know that. Then let them make the decision whether they will broadcast cult-recruiter movies.
Would any network knowingly broadcast a movie promoting a damaging cult? I think not.

you guys are funny the more controversy you stir up, the more emails and letters you send to PBS the more you will guarantee that the thing gets run (and maybe more than once)
The network is dying to increase viewership and knowing that if they do run it, not only will they feel like JWs will tune in, they may get the feeling that a lot of opponents will tune in to.
Maybe threatening to cancel PBS support or not to donate in the future will make them blink, but otherwise with no advertisers to really worry about, and knowing that any thing with controversy is going to draw a nice size audience, you are working against yourselves.
the best strategy would be to ignore it completely.
