I have a solution for you. Don't go to the meeting and you will not have to answer questions about the beard. BTW, I have a beard and that is why the JWs don't want me to go to the KingDumb Hall.

I got into it with a CO about 6 years ago, on this subject. I asked, "why can't the brothers wear a beard? Didn't Jesus wear one, and didn't every single Bible writer wear one too?" He made some lame attempt at explaining that there is a rebellious element that wear beards, and it isn't "seemly" for a brother to have one. I said Why? My doctor has one, and about half of the men I work with have them too. They aren't rebellious. They wear suits, and beards and are professional men. He gave up.

That CO gave a talk on the Circuit assembly about beards, and there was one brother, from our congregation, that had a beard, in the ENTIRE audience. I was so ticked. I wrote a letter, to vent, and showed it to my elder husband, who agreed to let me send it, and signed it, and another elder also signed it. He apologized!!! To my husband, not to me, but conveyed his apology through the "proper channels" and said he was trying to apply my advice. I was pretty floored by that. He is retired now......pretty old.
So Stifflers: try stonewalling them if they ask. I doubt if anyone will say anything. But if they do, just stare at them. They will get nervous, and change the subject. Or ask "why are you saying that.......because it isn't very encouraging". I totally would put THEM on the defensive.

My brother-in-law, a Bethel-yike, says brothers in Sweden or was it Switzerland have beards. The brother who plays Noah, in the VCR tape from the WTBS has a real beard.
It is not that beards are wrong. Although in early sketches of Jesus in the WT & A! he was clean shaven.
One of the reasons, is that the stigma of having a beard made you a kind of rebel or a Hells-Angel trouble maker, slovenly, etc. in this country many times that is the association many people conjure up in there minds -it creates a loose association with that kind of image.
I'm not talking about JW thinking either. The company EDS has/had that policy for a long time; they didn't regard it as proper grooming. Although that association appears to be dying out, I'm sure the WTBS will keep the no beards policy for some time to come.
Sometime in the mid late 70's the WTBS lifted it's restriction on beards, but then the bros instead of having a full beard had fu-man-chews, goaties, mutton-chops, mutton-chops and goatees, side-burns. It really did start to look like the ECMF and Hell's Angels. BTY ECMNF stood/stands for East Coast Motorcycle Fedration or as some used to really call it East Coast Mother F****er's
Life Goal as of this moment
1: Grow a beard
2: Wait untill elders complain
3: Tell them to bite me or... Ask them to explain why its wrong biblically
4: If they leave me alone, ill leave in a few months any as an apostate... not a REBEL... lol
Try to avoid the issue as much as you can.
You get skin problem every time you shave
You tried powders, electric shaver
You have tried going to the doctors etc
DO NOT GET INTO ARGUMENTS WITH ANYONE ABOUT IT. Most elders dont have a clue as to the real reasons.
Really you wont see Jesus nor Adam pictured with beard on old books.

The book made some pioneers rich. Pioneer cost was 15 cents and SOLD for 75 cents. Tons were sold. Very ilustrated book, that was the main reason, children like it, scared them too. Ask posters here why, but that is another subject also.

More could be said about the subject. Talk about group pressure, conformity, unity at all cost.
Tell them that everytime you shave you feel this incredible urge to masturbate and you just can't resist whacking the pony. Then ask them whether you should shave or not.
