The average dub including most elders has never seen an Apostate Website™ or read any Apostate Literature™, so all they have to go on is the continually reinforced notion of Apostates™ that is presented to them by the WTS, that is, of Apostates™ being this bitter, militant, single-minded community of ex-believers that will say and do anything to discredit the WTS. Which is laughable when you know the reality. But that's how I saw things for a long time.

we don't believe that anymore, so it doesn't apply and should never be brought up in conversation again

This is usually what they mean. That's why it's always best to quote recent literature like the amazingly badly written Daniel book with its crazy explanations. But, even then, most minds are closed as soon as disagreement with the GB is raised.

Since I've been out its amazing how eye opening contemporary sources can be. I've really become a fan of shows on the history channel that deal with biblical times and stuff. It is very informative to look at true bible scholars break down and analize the scriptures. when I look back to when I was into witness leanings, I would have thought ohh those people arent telling the truth or their confused. Now I think, these are people who have dedicated their lives to research and exhaustive study, not only of the scriptures, but the history of the land the events occured in, as well as archeological evidence to back up their findings. So the question for dubs who think any evidence that doesn't justify the WT$ agenda is false or the work of the devil, is this. Would someone who has dedicated their life to acedemic study and facts lie about their findings and conclusions?
