    Correct.

They used their theology to translate the scriptures rather than letting the scriptures dictate their theology.

    Welcome!!

Good question! This is a scripture that I too, have questioned since I started my journey questioning the very organization that produced that translation. An interesting thing I found, is that in another translation they produce, 'The Kingdom Interlinear Translation of the Greek Scriptures',This is what it says in interpreting that verse. Word for word it translates like this: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was toward the God, and god (notice the lower case "g") was the Word.

My comment is, first, it plainly says god was the Word. Secondly, why is the "W" capitalized and not the "g"?? It doesn't make sense!

In the column next to this verse it takes and translates it again to read: "In the beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god."

Just thought you may find that as strange as I have. Look forward to more of your comments/questions.

    Good day,

"Whats goin on" is the trem most widely used around here in tech support land...

but any ways, i was getting gas a local station...a nicely dressed lady approached me from a van with out of state plates...when she was walking up to me...i knew what she was doing.and what was going to happen...so i played along.....not knowing that she was a JW....she gave me a booklet and stated for me to pick up the Bible...i guess i looked alittle rough and all...long hair and not shaven.....just sitting there wating for my gas to be finished....i smiled and said, "Yes mam, i'm a Christian." she gave me this not so pleasant look and walked off...leaving me in a daze..like i ruined her day...so later on that day i started reading into the handouts...and noticed mostly Old Test. stuff.......then in small letter it showed it was from JW....then it all made sense....wow.....

"to the world you my be one person , but to one person you maybe the world."

Don't worry. She would have done the same to Jesus.

Oh my gosh!! Almost anyplace you see something in brackets BEWARE!!! Practically EVERYTIME, they insert something into someone elses quote that was not there! Also BEWARE of anytime you see this .......................(dot, dot, dot) usually, the part they are leaving out (represented by the dot, dot, dot) is the very part of someones quote that contradicts the point they are using to make! Like many here, we have seen it OVER and OVER! The best thing to do I have found is try to get your hands on the source. It has been most eye opening!!!
