God used Israel to bring on the punishment that had been foretold to these people for four hundred years. Thdy did not repent, they received judgement. My personal favorite is the part where the Israelites have been living off Manna for so long they are sick of it and they start clammoring for meat. They apparently clammor so much (in much the same manner as Jesus later said to pray, i.e. incessently) that Joe Hober gets pissed and say, "Oh, so you want meat do ya? Wello, fine then, I'm gonna give yo so much meat it comes out your nose!" And the next thing they know, they're chest deep in Quail. What a riot!
