Good thread Uncle B.
On the subject of suicide I've recently been asked to speak to a 10 year old boy who is deeply depressed and "may have suicidal tendencies".
I don't think he is suicidal but he's feeling low because his Dad left a few years back and has never contacted him, which is a start, but chatting to him, what he’s depressed about is the state of the planet on an ecological level.
He is scared of growing up in a polluted world running out of resources etc., and has a fear of the world changing so much in his lifetime due to global warming, melting ice caps and so on that he can't stand the unpredictabilty of his future.
I
set his angst against my own experience as a youngster. I grew up half expecting a nuclear war and then at 12 was indoctrinated and told that Armageddon was coming soon. So not until I was 19 ish did I ever envisage me living to a ripe old age and contemplating what the earth would be like when I was an old codger.
Just some thoughts and apologies if I’m too “off subject”
