Actually the term "Evil Slave" was first applied to those Bible Students who broke away in 1917 after the death of Pastor Russell. They then applied it to all apostates, they have now gone back to the original definition but have broaden it.
The term is applied to those anointed Witnesses who have gone apostate. That would make me an "Evil Slave Apostate" since I am both a former JW AND a Bible Student (a part of the Evil Slave Class) oh my, twice cursed!

Evil slave and apostate are cult terms used to keep cult members in fear of those who are free thinking of their cultlike teachings.I don't think ex-JWS are either..If anyone is apostate or the evil slave .. it is the watchtower society..If there is a god who cares.. the Watchtower society has a lot to answer for with all their twisted teachings.. They are not led by divine teachings,, I think they are the ones talked about in Revelation that ride with the Wild Beast..Their own New light will most likely expose them soon enough..( sorry -sounds sort of preachy)

I think it's important to 'reclaim the language' and thus disempower it. I have spent years reclaiming language stolen and perverted by the Watchtower and have learned to wear the 'apostateā¢' tag with some pride.
I can understand peoples fear or reluctance to do it though - each to what heals best.

If a Witness calls ex-witnesses 'evil slave' they clearly don't understand what they are saying (no surprise there!)
To be called 'Evil Slave' refers to the opposite of the 'Faithful Slave' - that is, one claiming to be of the anointed 144000 who turns apostate (doesn't believe the GB anymore)
To be called 'Apostate' is for the rest, not claiming to be anointed, who leave the Org. (You can even be called apostate for believing something which is later accepted as 'new light'! - amazing)
They are just words designed to scare the Witnesses into ignoring everything you say, even if backed up by scripture. Unfortunately, it works. That's why, if I get to talk to a Witness, I never reveal my past association but, as an 'interested one', innocently ask a question, already knowing the answer, but making them think!

The term "Enlightened" is preferred.

The use of "evil slave" to apply to any and all ex-JWs indicates how little of the WTS dogma filters through nowadays to the rank and file.
"Enlightened"
I like that one.
