BURN DOWN THE KINGDOM HALLS!!

I would love a bumper sticker, but is it worth a divorce from a dubby wife?

Mind you, i think that there is also a danger of a backlash reaction. Have you all heard experiences of a J W "Bible Study" who may have been initially stumbled by approaches from outside but comes back stronger if that information about the J W is found inaccurate in anyway?

My thoughts are that 1] Anything said has to be 100% true and provable.2] We have to come across as totally reasonable and kind and sensible , allowing the J W's to take the role of religious fanatics in the minds of our hearers. 3] To reach active dubs we have to be really informed, getting them to reason on their own faith, and avoiding anything that cannot be substantiated even if it should be true.

In France, from what I remember from the Watchtower publications, the media turned against them and printed a lot of knocking material - but the dubs are still there. It can often provoke curiosity on the part of readers .

I believe the Borg is doing a pretty good job of harming itself...slowly.....

Burn them down huh? I prefer to let the religion stand against it's greatest foe, TIME! Nothing like another 50-100 years of nothing fullfilled to slow the movement down.

Now that we're out and we don't acknowledge their self appointed authority, it is easy to put such bullies in their place. ; They're not used to someone standing up to them and they really don't know what to do when someone verbally smashes their brains in.

Very true. On a personal level, I don't have desire to go the physical route. Its just not worth it, and feeds right into what most JWs want and need and thrive on to make them feel they are fulfilling some prophecy "so the end must be close"-- persecution.

We are already winning this war. The WT is hanging itself with its own words. The information now available, especially on the internet, combined with the growing apathy and depression in the JW ranks, is having impact already. "Burning something down" would change everything. The apathy would evaporate. Some might leave, but most would catch fire again, and the ones on the fence would run to mother fearing the big A was on the way.

I believe the best strategy is to live well and be available when a person is ready. Sometimes it may appear otherwise, but remember these are not happy people. They may fake it in front of you, and even fool themselves into thinking they are peddling their way to happiness. But it is all pretense. They may not even realize why they are unhappy, but they will only see it when they are ready and courageous enough to take a honest reassessment of everything that touches their lives, including the JW religion. Once a persons knows the truth about the Truth, and they still choose not to see it, its their choice. You can lead a horse to water but you cannot make him drink.

I believe the worst I could wish on the JWs who are jerks or corrupt and cruel elders is for them to hang on to whatever strands of JWism they can. And as as the credibility of the WT erodes to next to nil, they are forced to look back on their own lives at the very end realizing they wasted it on a falsehood. If a person doesnt want to see they light, I say let them be until they are choking on watchtowers (figuratively of course). Destroying the credibility of the WT is the key. The individuals are just victims (as we once were) and only acting on what they have been misled and manipulated to believe. But for those who already know its false and still perpetuate it....I say stay...cause I want to be there to watch them choke on the words as the credibility of their real god the WT crumbles.

I know a JW on the Liaison Committee who I've known since I was a kid. I know him too be extremely intelligent and I had always valued his opinion. We one day had an in depth discussion on the blood issue. I ask him questions he was not able to answer rationally and still appear credible. He knew that I knew that he was much too intelligent to really believe the bs that was coming out of his mouth. He didnt really believe it and it showed in his eyes, but what was he going to say. I still like the guy, but I lost a lot of respect for him that day. When we see each other, we are still cordial and speak, but the aura he held for me is gone. He probably will never leave...too much invested.

I tell this story to say that there are plenty of these types in JWland. I am not after really after them (they are the ones who will live with it), only the belief system that controls and imprisons so many into this fetal position of a state. When the WT has no further credibility, and a person chooses to stay...I say have at it.

Burn them down huh? I prefer to let the religion stand against it's greatest foe, TIME! Nothing like another 50-100 years of nothing fullfilled to slow the movement down.

That's it! My greatest counter-cult asset is TIME time for their "profitcy$" to fail and be exposed as false prophets, and time for their own human mortality to grow old and die just like everybody else,(and not going to Heaven but rotting in the ground)

I am driven to fight them, enraged that i was robbed of my vital years and squandered my youth, education, health, money, future, sex life for a ripoff cult.

This i know, that active dubs are also very concerned about growing old in this 'system'.Back when i was an active witness,i could feel the great anxiety of growing old prevail all around me.

Back in the mid 1960's my elder Dad would be public talk guest speaker and visit the Plymouth Massachusetts congregation which was 90% elderly russelites who are now all dead.

Post 1975 for about 7 years or so the common cliche greeting was,"well we never thought we would still living in this system".

They talk about apostates who are gnashing their teeth well what about them?

I was just reading a book about 4 young men who felt they had a just cause and blew up a building, thinking no one would be in it. A man was working late, and died.

    ------------------------------------------------

Is that a reference to the chemistry building at UW-Madison?

I also agree they have to be burned in the figurative way by educating the public it's a case of producing compelling, high impact arguments and making a film/documentary would also help a great deal.

I choose to expose them in many different ways, In fact I have emailed alot, plus I have even called and talked with TV station producers. I absolutely love picketing, but I havent done it in a year because of my job, If I ever move again, I will start picketing. I will still picket conventions. And I personally dont care about their persecution complex, as long as you are friendly to people and dont scream at them, some of them will take notice, especially the children. Children are told that apostates are vile creatures who are violent, whenever they see me smiling and having a good time, it just makes the Elders look like liars.

What i would really love to see is to turn on the news someday and find out that congressional hearings into the WT Society's finances have begun, you know some really major news that could interrupt soap operas. I would love to see the WT Society fined into oblivion, and their doors padlocked, and their presses idled, that would make my day.

BURN DOWN THE KINGDOM HALLS!! says Nick:

My first thought: Bad Idea - Kingdom Halls are insured. Second thought: The JWS would love re-building them (much better fellowship than field service) and perhaps gain undue sympathy from an uninformed public in these days of wanky 'terrorist alerts'.

In many ways the beautiful Bega valley is a backwater. At the library creationist pamphlets quickly disappear from the front counter. I've several times been approached by JW sympathisers while on JWD there. I'm still unsure about a bumper sticker but think it's wonderful that they are available for those with the inclination and guts. My only vehicle is a commercial 4WD and I'm not sure about mixing business with pleasure

I'd love a decent (read secular) anti-cult brochure and will probably design my own.
