The way this board develops is entirely in our own hands.

I have said a number of times that moderate posters are ignored. The way to gain attention is to start an explicit thread on homosexuality or simply swear at someone and start a row. The longest running threads are the most offensive. Whose fault is that?

As long as people reply to threads that posters with foul mouths they will thrive. How about replying to the less sensational posts and ignoring the offensive ones? In time the board would find a different level.

    Running away is cop out!

Please don't go, Simon is going to put a stop to it. I hope I haven't offended you in anyway. If you do go, please realize that you will be missed.

Hey, who's calling you every vile name in the book, sis? [dedalus rolls up his shirt sleeves and glares around menacingly ...] Anyone who bothers you has to answer to me!

You're the best, Es, and I mean it.

    Prisca,

Don't go. Take a sabbatical. Come back and visit if you feel like it.

Whoa, slow down there Junior! *lol* Nobody lately, little bro, you can put those sleeves back down now :) Just referring to my past experiences on the boards. I laughed when I read your post though, always nice to have someone willing to defend your honor! :) You're a sweetheart. I can't wait for baby pictures. You can bet that little Dedalina's Auntie Essie and Uncle Jack will be sending her some pretty clothes :)

Give my hugs to Foxy and tell baby D that her Auntie loves her already. Love her parents, too :)

Hey, we should talk voice sometime you know? Maybe around the holidays. Would be a great present *hint hint* *lol*

Prisca, if you're still lurking about, I think Dedalus' advice is good. Take a break, get your wind back in your sails, then come back if you like. We'll be around.

    *hugs*

I remember a few old sayings from the 'Corps:

    "nobody ever drowned in sweat"

Perhaps this may be applied in the sense that nothing ventured nothing gained, and everything worthwhile requires hard work and determination, a.k.a survival on this board!

Another saying was: "reach down and grab hold"

Application: Although it appears to apply to males only, it actually means reaching inside to find and grab onto more of what you need to overcome some obstacle. Just do it! - (stolen from NIKE)

    Hi Prisca,

I am sorry to see that the language here bothers you so badly. I must say that your assertions of being the delicate lady who just can't bear such ugliness doesn't carry much credibility when you post things like:

    :(((((((((tinabel)))))))) how are you hun?
do you mind if I borrow your wig for the Gay & Lesbian Mardi-gra? I also might need to borrow some of your make-up - I normally wouldn't wear those colours but the trannies do. hope you don't mind, I'll return them after the party.
    thanks hun

What a small-minded attack. Normally I don't have a problem with rough-and-tumble posts but when a woman says or does something that is so small and so bitchy it irritates me. It makes us all look bad.

When I see that others say:

    :with Christian love from
someone who admires and respects your
    fine example over here,
    Derrick

Well all I can say is I am no Christian and damn proud of it.

Best of luck in life with your double standards, you'll need it--you might fare well in Washington DC--I hear it's a good time there now for Good Christians like yourself--

    Hello Julie,

I see you also noticed that failure on Prisca's part to maintain the high level of integrity she's held as long as I've known her. I was a bit disappointed by it, myself, but I fully understood. Another poster that I have great respect for recently made similar missteps. That's all they are, not patterns of poor behavior that is more commonly seen from others.

Personally, it's a lot easier for me to write off those kinds of mistakes than it is to overlook posters who are regularly abusive and judgmental. The way I look at it, Prisca had gotten her fill and decided to respond in kind.

Look forward to more contributions from you!

    peace,
    tj
